Can't get HP Deskjet 3845 to work with Snow Leopard
I have just upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard. My HP Deskjet 3845 printer will not work. I have tried installing the printer drivers included on the optional install section on the Snow Leopard Disc.
Are there new drivers available for the HP Deskjet 3845, that will enable my printer to work?
I can also not get my Deskjet D1560 working either. I tried reinstalling the driver from HP but it did not work and this really *****, is Apple going to pay my kinkos bill?
it will be helpful to check the kbase I posted and see if your printer is present there. Let me stress, alot of people have had their printers/scanners not working because its not compatible "yet" with SL. You probably hear the same answer. reinstalling the driver won't solve the issue but an updated driver will
I'm also using the D1560 and it isn't supported in Snow Leopard, nor is there a driver available from HP, for OS X 10.6.
We are currently printerless, which is NOT very useful, considering I recently bought this printer. I recently bought the printer because I need to use it!
I confirmed that I too can make my printer prints again (HP D1560) from Snow Leopard. As Mikkel said, I uninstalled all HP software, and then just reinstall the Printer Driver from HP installer. Now my Snow Leopard is happy again.
Great advice - thank you! D1560 now works - don't know but hey!
Just a minor point though - I can't select draft or grey scale now before I print so have have to print everything in colour, etc; not a big deal but does anyone have any thoughts on this?
The draft option is buried in the Paper Type/Quality setting in the print dialog. The grey option is buried even further in the Paper Type/Quality setting by twiddling the disclosure triangle next to Color Options (near the bottom of the page).
Print drivers for the HP DeskJet 3845 (which is what this thread was originally about) are available through Apple Software Update (HP Drivers version 2.2), download from [Apple.com|http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907], or from [HP.com|http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=m p-74669-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=372330&os=219&lang=en].
Thank you. I had those options before but since taking the advice to un-install and then only re-intstall the printer driver for my HP D1560 I don't have those options in the dialog box any more. But at least I can print again.
Btw I started to download up-to-date HP drivers from the Apple site and it was taking 6 hours! so I abandoned that.
The drivers for the D1560 should give you those options buried in the screen I mentioned. Note if your Paper type is set to borderless, the draft print options will obviously be disabled. And if the Apple download is taking to long, there is a full solution installer available from HP.com for your device that is about 135MB in size. It can be downloaded from [here|http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al- 74802-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=219&product=3568533].
