DCR-TRV19 has no video in LCD or Viewfinder

I wanted to get some additional help or at least opinion(s). My Sony DCR-TRV19 has no video in LCD or Viewfinder. If you use a tape with content, it displays video, in either.
So, some type of connection loss to the recording aspect has happened...
I looked into repair, it is $269.00. I did the reset to factory default numerous times.
I tested with battery & AC, only battery, only AC, all have same result >> No video in LCD or Viewfinder.
I have really babied this and it just appeared a week ago. I last used it about 5 weeks ago. I do not know what else to try....
Any opinions?
I am not sure spending $269 worth it. But a new one is much more.
I have ~$500 into it already and sadly, did not opt for extended warranty option....
Should I look into the options of non-Sony authorized repair?
Is there a web-based reseller that would offer trade-in for non-working DV camcorder?

I neglected to mention, it does play to TV fine. And, if I want to watch a tape of previous footage, it works showing video playback on the LCD or through the view finder.
It is strictly a hardware issue on the camcorder. I hoped some "miracle cure" was forthcoming....
I may need to consider keeping this one for simple playback, importing or to record back to from FCP.
And get a new one since this one will no longer record footage.
