iPhoto RGB screen problem

Since installing Snow Leopard viewing and editing images in full screen view on iPhoto (v8.1) results in the iMac screen sometimes changing between red, green or blue squares with a line running across the diagonal of the screen from top left to bottom right. It occurs randomly and has so far corrected itself. It only happens on full screen and most frequently when adjusting highlights and shadows. I ran a full Apple Hardware diagnostic test which the iMac passed ok. Also reset the PRAM and ran Disc First Aid to correct permissions (I've had no problem with my MacBook also running on 10.6). Has anyone had a similar iPhoto problem on OS X 10.6 and if so is there a fix?

I too have had the same problem, as well as many more graphic related issues.

I'm right there with you. Not only is arabesque slow, it displayed black only a few seconds after starting, then 5 minutes later began displaying with large artifacts, big black squares with no gradation (very un-arabesque).

The artifacts is what is interesting to me here.

Ever since upgrading, iPhoto in both windowed and full screen editing modes as never displayed a clean clear photo. Every picture comes with a random display of artifacts. It's almost as if I can see the software computations as I draw the sliders left to right. These artifacts do not remain if I export the pictures though.

This also has happened when applying the motion blur filter in iMovie '08. Unfortunately, these artifacts seem to be written across and into the video in the same direction as the motion blur.

And further to these graphic problems, Front Row displays movies choppy and often with the audio out of sync.

I have the same problem after uploading new photos. Then I can't enlarge photos any more, sometimes the new photos disappear or they change into red, green or blue squares. When i close iPhoto after uploading photos and then start again, everything works as it should!

Apple: Please repair or update the snow leopard!

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've deleted and reinstalled iPhoto and rebuilt the photo library to no avail. The problem is worse with large photo file sizes. It especially occurs when moving the sharpness slider. The screen goes all "psychedelic," sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently until I exit full screen mode.

Hi - I am having the exact same problem and its driving me crazy! In the last week, I have tried everything under the sun and still not working. When I try to sharpen a photo, my mac freezes up completely and I have to reboot manually.

Is this forum moderated by apple? Would be so grateful for a fix either to iphoto or osx 10.6...

I'm using iPhoto on two machines with no issues at all. Have you tried the most basic fix for these kinds of things in iPhoto?

Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

Was on the phone with Apple Support for 1 hour. Tried everything - and I mean everything except reinstall Iphoto 09. I used the iLife family pack with my old employer, and do not have the physical DVD on me. How anyone tried reinstalling Iphoto 09 with the install DVD? We tried creating a new user, changing photo to Tiff, deleting logs, changing files, rebuilding library - - among a dozen other things - - to no avail. Please tell me if anyone did this. Thanks
