Entourage: Spotlight / Search Not Working

Try repairing disk permissions...

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

There is also an option in Entourage preferences to rebuild the Spotlight Index for Entourage.

One issue after upgrading to SL:

- entourage search and views did not worked

*solution: make sure that entourage is selected as default email-app (reselect it again) in mail.app and entourage.*

possible other solutions: fix permissions (disk utility), rebuild entourage spotlight database (preferences, spotlight)

I had the same problem with not getting search results within Entourage. I followed Henk Smets' advice by simply re-clicking the "Set Entourage as my default e-mail client" (in Entourage's preferences, then General pane) and that solved the problem. It took less than a second! Thanks!

For me the Problem ist still not solved. It was after I updated to 10.6.1

I tried the following
- rebuild my Entrourage database
- rebuild spotlight database in Entourage
- fix accessright within harddisk utility
- rebuild spotlight with TinkerTool System 2
- reset the default Mail app again to Entrourage

I still not been able to search eather in entourage as in spotlight. Spotlight search for items but finds very less items. Something is really wrong with this. Even a Program as "Easy Find" doesn't find items on my mac

Who knows a fix?

I have the same problem, and have tried all these solutions, but nothing works. C'mon, can someone help us?

Run this in the terminal. /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

sudo mdutil -E /

It resets Spotlight and fixes issues with Entourage searching. Or at least it did for a few of my machines. Please be patient. It takes some time to re-index everything. Maybe reboot after it finishes.

Same issue here.
Since upgrade to Snow Leopard, search does not work in Entourage anymore, and actually, spotlight does not work at all. MDS, MDWORKER keep crashing.

I too am having this problem. Spotlight won't work, neither will the search in Entourage. I have had apple support try all sorts of things. Including re-installing the OS - twice (do you know what a time killer that is???). I have tried all the solutions listed here too. The one that puzzles me most however is the one to run "sudo multi -E" since I can't seem to figure out how to do that and not get an error message. When I do that, after being prompted for my password, the message I get is "No index." Any suggestions?
