Home button will not take me back to the home screen...

Here recently my home button has failed. It will not take me back to the home screen at all, the only thing it will do is wake it up from sleep and bring up the quick music menu. What is wrong and what should I do?

Mac G5 and Window Vista, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iPod touch

It could be failed and is registering one click as a double-click. Try a Restart and, if needed, a Reset to see if either will help.

Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I'm having the same problem, but another thing is that my hold button isn't letting me go to the shut down option. I hold it for 30 seconds and not shut down option comes up, all that happens is normal hold.

Try this.
Go to settings/general/home and there you have 3 options.pick the one you wish and go go go.That should sort the problem....roD

Sounds like a software error. Try plugging your iPod into iTunes and hitting the Restore button, if all else fails.
