Writing equations in words, how to accomplish

Thanks for the help.

In my experiments I used floating text boxes to create the text and the brackets.
I also applied no wrap to the text boxes.

When my result sits on the page of a word processing document it sits over the text as expected, (since its floating and has no wrap turned on) and you have to artificially push down the surrounding text so that it doesn't clash with the equation. Perhaps there is a smart way to do this but if there is I'm missing it.

The technique that seems most effective is to create the whole equation on a page layout and use 'arrange' to group the whole arrangement. Then copy the whole equation as a single object and paste into the WP document.

For other readers I'll mention that I had to revamp your idea slightly, using two columns I accomplished a statement with 3 items in the D and 3 in the N
