Font Book crashing

Font Book crashing

As I'm attempting to add some new fonts, Font Book crashes whether I add one font or a dozen. I'm not installing them, but just want them handy in the event I want to use them. Is there a limit on the number of fonts this app can handle?

Also, do you recommend any other font management software? This is the first time I've had this issue with Font Book and I'm perplexed.

Ruth, might be helpful to know which exact fonts these are & the source.

Also, do you recommend any other font management software?

FontExplorer X Pro 2.0.2, they have a Free version available still at the bottom of the page...

Here's a sampling of the fonts:

KuriakosSSK BoldItalic.ttf
KuriakosBlackSSK Bold.ttf
KoreanTimesSSK.ttf
Koksure.ttf
KleinsFirstScriptPark-Medium.ttf
KG hALLOWEEN1.ttf
KeyboardEliteSSK.ttf
KeyboardEliteSSK Bold.ttf
KerusaSSK Italic.ttf
KerusaSSK BoldItalic.ttf
KentuckyFriedFont.ttf
KR Foo'ball.ttf
KR Fleurish Circle.ttf

They were a download from a trusted source. In this particular download, I was able to add some to Font Book, but then I started having crashes. Before adding to Font Book I verified and deleted fonts that were suspect. I haven't been adding them to the main library, but making a new library that I can access if and when I want. Does this answer your question or do you need more information?

The Help section of Font Book doesn't have a lot of help for a situation like this.

I'm planning on looking at the software you suggest, but was away a good share of the day so I'm finally getting around to answering your question.

Update: I decided to try one more time to add fonts to Font Book. This time I started at the bottom of the list and had no trouble. When I got to one particular font, I had a crash! This one font must have been the culprit and caused all the havoc.

I have no other explanation of why this happened.

Be glad to. It was "KentuckyFriedFont.ttf" -- it was validated but actually fried Font Book repeatedly!

To answer your question, "yes," Font Book crashed when I attempted to import it. Interesting, isn't it?

Interesting, I just Used Font Book in 10.6.0 and it didn't cash it, but I think I se the reason why it does cash yours...

The full name is huge Asian plus...

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. I'm curious how you came up with the "Asian" association. Of course, since I couldn't import it, I guess I will not be able to see the same thing you did. A lesson for the future for me, I guess.

Might be interesting to see if the one from the "trusted source" is the same as the Free one!?

Get HexEdit and open that file for a look...

It can compare 2 files.

BTW, Linotype FontExplorer X.app in Tiger imported it no problem, No Asian characters in Name either!? I wonder if they changed the Font on the site or what?
