HP PSC 1400 installation problem for Snow Leopard

I just upgrade to snow leopard but cannot install the printer, which is HP PSC 1400. I check the website and it is said the driver of PSC1400 is included in snow leopard but apparently not. The closest driver included is only for PSC1500.

In Leopard the printer cannot be recognized by Airport wireless network but after upgrade, it can. What a progress Apple did. Now I just need a driver to activate the printer. BTW, I don't have a plan to buy a new printer. I tried direct usb connect to my mbp but failed too.

Can anyone here help? Thanks in advance.

I just found Apple's list of printers for Snow leopard, and I don't find the HP PSC 1400 at all--just the HP PSC 1500:

This makes me wonder if there actually is a driver for the 1400. Hopefully you can get a straight answer from HP as to whether or not there actually is a driver available. If not, you may have to resort to looking for a new printer. I may too, as I don't see my d135 officejet on the list.

Good luck!

Thanks and this is what I did. When I add the printer, actually the mbp begins downloading the software( i thinks it's driver). And it pops up a window asking you to agree the agreement. I click yes. and Then the bar push a little and another window pops up and saying the software isn't available and asking me to wait later and use software upgrade to download. so that's the problem I encounter. There is no driver for psc 1400.

Have you tried Software Update? I just had an interesting experience. I had just checked Software Update and knew my software was up to date. Then I plugged in my HP officejet d135 and added it as a printer and checked Software Update again, and found a HP Driver upgrade of some sort. Evidently some sort of a generic one, which I downloaded. To my astonishment, the d135 started acting like it would print. The icon that came up was a generic printer icon and NOT the d135 icon, but for the first time since going to Snow Leopard, I had a response from this printer.

In reality, I don't think the d135, which is 8 years old, has a snowball's chance of being compatible with Snow Leopard, since it theoretically is only compatible with 10.4. But it had worked in Leopard, and I was curious enough to see to see if it would work in Snow Leopard. It doesn't really--it thinks it's printing, but just sits there thinking it's printed 8% of the document. But I was surprised at even that much happening.

No idea whether or not the generic driver from Software Update would work on your HP PSC 1400 or not, but maybe worth a try.

Good luck!

Same problem,
I was very exited first when installing snow leopard. Now it appears that my Hp 1410 is no more supported. The driver CD I kept from 2005 does not work as well. Now im stuck between HP an Apple, with no driver. I which I did not upgrade to Leopard, because I far as i am concerned I dont see any improvement I my daily use, now no more printer.
This printer has been very reliable, and I am not willing to replace it soon.
I will rather downgrade to the previous leopard.
I am ****** off ...
