can someone help me out please

ok i've just got off the phone to apple regarding my iphone 3gs i purchased 4 days ago. it has a fault with the sound, every time i record a video or a voice memo there is a loud noise when i play the recording back, like static cutting in and out that you get on a TV. the first guy i spoke to was english got me to restore the phone to see if it was a software issue, it wasn't. so i rang back ad spoke to a spanish woman who put me on hold and said she'd speak to someone about getting it repaired. then an american woman came on saying cos i've only had it 4 days she didn't want to send it for repair and that said she'd arrange for a new iphone to be sent to me. she was the nicest customer support person i've ever spoke to and kept apologising for my inconvenience.

but my question is regarding the last thing she said after she got my phone number to arrange picking up the iphone was "i'll contact at&t to arrange pick up". after i got off the phone i thought who's at&t? and it turns out they are an american company, well i'm in the UK and my phone is on o2. i'm hoping someone is gonna say at&t own o2 or something. it got me thinking did she think i was in the US or something. thanks in advance

It sounds like the Spanish woman did not realize that you are an O2 customer and handed you off to a US support person who didn't know you were in the UK.

If you have an Apple Shop in your area, it might be easiest to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to sort out the issue. The other option is to take everything back to the O2 shop where it was purchased and see if they'll swap it out for you since you just bought it.

Apparently, to the Spanish, we Americans and English sound alike. Little do they know! 🙂

I don't know how Apple works in the UK, but here in the US, Apple was willing to ship me a new phone (overnight) as a replacement. When I received it, I put in my defective phone, and ship it back to them. I'd call Apple and see what they could do.

It's funny, but here in Southern California, 50 miles is "just down the street."

i'm gonna call them later, the lines very busy at the moment.

the american lady read my address to me to check that it was right, but she only said the street and a county not the country so i guess she could've thought i was in the US.

50 miles is just down the street in in california? are you serious? haha. i don't have a car and to go there (manchester) on the train is a full day out basicly. i'd rather them just pick it up and send me a new 1 in the post, i'm pretty lazy lol.

well i've just got off the phone to apple and spoke to the same person 4 times now in 1 day (the english guy) he said that the aftercare team are all american. and you know i said she said at&t, well she said TNT (the delivery company) so i got my wires crossed.

the customer service guy put me through to the same american woman i spoke to last time to check my details, as soon as i started speaking to her my credit ran out DOH!!!

anyway hopefully that should be problem solved, but knowing my luck i'm not counting on it

can someone help me out please
