MacBook Pro Battery 'Service Battery' after Snow Upgrade

I've just noticed that my MBP is shutting down at 72% now whereas it was 62% when I installed Snow Leopard.

Grin and bare it for now I guess. It looks like this is a problem with the software, not the batteries. Ergo, replacing the battery wouldn't help the problem, it just makes it manifest at a different (battery) level.

I also have this problem. The battery itself went into flash mode, the system shut down without grace, and the battery is running hot while "charging".

You aren't alone obviously - mine was fine before SL now I have 'Service Battery' too on a machine just over a year old. I'm hoping that it is purely software too, too many things not right with SL!

I had the same problem after updating to 10.6

However, my battery service warning mysteriously disappeared.

My battery's info looks perfectly normal:

Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 1592
Fully charged: No
Charging: No

Wow... good thing I checked here... was about to order a new battery... Also, I have noticed that my MBP is running HOT... much hotter than normal...

My MacBook Pro (1,1) is showing the same thing. I had the battery replaced a few years ago but @ 4092 mAh full capacity, I would figure it is fine. It has been running hot lately though

Nevermind my previous post. The service battery warning has returned!

Mine Too Is doing the Same thing.

After install I had the Service Battery Come on. Acted weird Charge only lasted an hour maybe? So I did a Calibration.. That didnt fix it.. So I Did a Full Charge. And Then the other day i was on Battery Power and Noticed it was jumping around time wise. and bumped me up to 3hr remaining. and Service Battery indicator went away.

Been like that for a few days.. Today I UnPlugged and it came back on. And Its taking longer than Normal to Charge Back.

Im about 99.9% sure my Battery is not bad. As I Did not have any battery issue prior to installing Snow Leopard. In Fact If I Run Leopard from my external drive the Battery Charges at normal speed. So I Know its Snow Leopard Causing the issue.

Same thing for me. MBP 4,1. I have two batteries, both of which were working fine in Leopard. After SL upgrade, I get the "not charging" and "service battery" message on the battery that was in the chassis during the upgrade. Only 139 charge cycle count. Other battery works fine when installed. No solutions though? 10.6.1?

so does anyone know if Apple is going to do anything about this, or should I go back to Leopard?

Well, after doing the SMC reset and letting the battery charge completely, the message is GONE... not sure if it's coincidental or not... AND it's showing a FULL CHARGE CAPACITY of 4601mAh... yesterday, it showed 3800mAh... my cycle count is 185. I'm sure it will change...

This is still an active problem on my end. No new news from Apple on the subject, going to try calling back in on my case in the AM will post anything that I find out.
