I can`t copy a file - (Error code 0)

Hi everyone. So, i was try to copy a file for a external hd, but i can`t do this. Appear this message - "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured.(Error code 0)" What`s the matter? What can i do for copy this file? Thanks a lot. Sorry for my english, i`m learning.

MacBook Pro 15", Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Hi dear, the file size is 6.27GB, the format of the other hd is FAT 32. With other files i can copy normaly, only with 2 files (one of 6.27GB and other with 6.3GB). All is instalations with DMG files... What can i do? I have to format my mac for install the Snow Leopard, and i need to save this instalations. Thanks for you help.

There in lies your problem. Microsoft's FAT32 file system doesn't permit files greater than 4G in size. Your options are: 1) use a different disk with a format that permits larger files, 2) compress the file and hope you can shrink it below 4G in size, 3) split the file into multiple parts (later to be reassembled on a filesystem that permits larger files), or 4) convert the DMG to a "sparse bundle disk image" using Disk Utility and copy that to the FAT32 drive.

A "sparse bundle disk image" is actually stored on disk as a directory filled with smaller files representing the larger disk image. OS X can use it like any disk image, but it is actually stored as lots of smaller chunks - the performance is, as one might expect, not great, but it works.
