Remove desktop shortcut arrows

Remove desktop shortcut arrows

In 10.5 I removed the functionality that placed the little arrow next to shortcuts / alias on my desktop. After upgrading to 10.6 all of the arrows have reappeared. Can anybody tell me how to remove them or point me to a URL that may help.

After a long investigation I found the answer. I have tested and it works fine.

In terminal:

$ cd /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources

$ sudo mv AliasBadgeIcon.icns AliasBadgeIcon_OFF.icns

Then I rebooted and it had gone!
