can't send email on public library WIFI

When I log onto a public library WiFi, for some reason Mail (v3.4) won't send. It receives just fine - but I can't sent.

Is there a preference for this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Depending on the port you have selected to send mail from, they may have it blocked on their network.

The default smtp port is 25.

Webmail is one way around this. Or, you can check with your provider to see if they have an alternate port you can/should use for smtp with authentication.

The link below includes screenshots on where to find these settings in mac mail, but do not change without first ensuring it is supported by your isp.
