    Hello peterpt,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!

You can burn portions of songs by changing the Start/Stop time of each song. To do this, locate one of the songs you wish to burn a portion of, right->click on it and choose "Get Info" from the Shortcut menu. From there, head over to the options tab, where you will see two different boxes for adjusting the start and stop time.

The burn CD will only burn the song from the time you specified it to start as well as the end. Just make sure that if you want to hear the whole song after that, to change the settings back to how they were originally.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey B-rock,
I appreciate your help in getting started, however I do have another question. I'll do what you said with the start and stop times, after that all I have to do is put a cdr in my hard drive, what is the sequence of steps I have to take in order to get it right? Like I said I'm just getting situated I need some guidance so I don't screw up. Thanks for your help.

Steps for which procedure? Changing the start and stop times or burning the actual CD in iTunes?

Here are two nice tutorials on each.
[iTunes: How to Burn a High-Quality Audio CD|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2239]

This article is for changing the start/end time of a podcast, but the same applies to songs.

    Hope they help.

Install a music editing program like Audacity, which is free. Then you an shorten, cut and paste, add sections, delete sections, and alter music in many ways before you burn it onto a CD.

Why not just use iTunes and set the Start/Stop times as previously suggested?
