Snow Leopard changed the brightness range of MBP 13" ?

This is my question : after a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro 13" (9CC2 panel), it seems that Snow Leopard definitely change the brightness range on the MacBook Pro 13" !

The range was much "wider" with Leopard, and allow me to set brightness to a dimmer level...
Now, the brightness is on the bright side, and can't be set really dim (not as far as before...).
And that's not great for my battery life!

Any other experience with MacBook Pro 13" brightness settings ?
Hope Apple will fix that as soon as possible...

Bests from France,
Nicolas

I went last night to my local mac store. I did not meet with a genius because it was busy. Tonight at 7:30 pm.

I did take a look at the demo macbook pro 13" with SL and found they went much darker. My energy saver says that I should get about 4:50 on a full charge at minimum brightness while the store unit predicted more like 9 hours. A big difference. I think that this point should undeniable to the genius and likely result in some positive action.

I will update you all when I return tonight.

I bought mine from the website. Not sure who to turn to for problems like this. And I dun think the apple dealer here in Savannah would even bother with helping anyone.

The increase in brightness is really bad for the eyes and extremely draining on the power (roughly 3 hrs) hope apple fix it soon.

~Just owned my first Apple computer and a **** load of problem comes piling down. Am going to stick to my PC for work at this moment. Need apple to correct it's flaws before I can continue to do my video color correction duties.

So they acknowledged this as a problem and gave you a new machine? Did you have Applecare and how long did you have the 9cc2 screen machine before getting this trade out? I was thinking of doing the same thing but in the past when I've done this I have ended up worse off than when I stared getting dead pixels or some other problem with the new one. Thanks for the information update.

I went to the Apple Store today, had an appointment at Genius bar.
We placed my mbp 13" (9CC2) close to another machine, same but different display code. Both running Snow Leopard.
The difference in brightness levels was huge, he could not deny it.
Tried something but could not find a solution.

So they ordered a new display, I will have to bring my MBP in and the display will be changed with a new one.
Useless to say, this is very bad.
I will let you know how it ends.

Iggi, did you try and get a new one instead of getting them to replace the screen? Prof Paddle got them to give him a new MBP if I remember correctly. Did you guys try to get them to replace the entire thing or did you guys just take the first solution that they gave you?

I only want to know this because if it is possible for me to get them to replace mine entirely I would rather have them do that then to wait on a new screen and then go back to have them put it in. My school work is starting to get VERY heavy now, so I don't know when I'll get enough time to head down to the Apple store, especially twice for them to put a new screen on :/.

Any further info would be much appreciated 🙂
And thanks a lot for posting!
