Snow Leopard changed the brightness range of MBP 13" ?

This is my question : after a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro 13" (9CC2 panel), it seems that Snow Leopard definitely change the brightness range on the MacBook Pro 13" !

The range was much "wider" with Leopard, and allow me to set brightness to a dimmer level...
Now, the brightness is on the bright side, and can't be set really dim (not as far as before...).
And that's not great for my battery life!

Any other experience with MacBook Pro 13" brightness settings ?
Hope Apple will fix that as soon as possible...

Bests from France,
Nicolas

Freeman, I was always under the impression that one catches more flies with honey than vinegar, as the old saying goes, but perhaps, when the occasion is right, a little more could result in better results. I will say that it's frustrating to shell out good money for a computer to have it fail in one respect or another, and equally frustrating for there not to be a fix for it. I do appreciate the concern that Apple's customer relations showed me, and I'm glad the engineers know, so perhaps it won't be too long before an update solves the 9CC2 problem. As a consumer, I want to be able to have confidence in Apple, in their products, and in their responsiveness to technical issues.

So I've been reading up and I have the 922C panel. I'm currently in college and won't be back until Winter and have no access to a Apple Store. What is the recommended action, to try to go exchange for a new one or have them fix it when I get home? Or just wait it out for 10.6.2? I'm keeping my MPB on the lowest brightness with this issue and honestly probably wouldn't use it on a lower brightness, but with what I've read about how much it saves battery life, I may consider to. I'm getting like 5-6, calculated, not tested just running iTunes and Safari with 5+ tabs, on this lowest brightness. What is everyone else getting and what would they be getting with the 10.5 lowest brightness?

There isn't anything a technician can do because, as I believe the thread starter said either here on in another thread, the problem is that our 9CC2 display is missing a certain file.

The brightness is annoying, since I never put it above 33% on Leopard and now the lowest is suddenly 50%. I rarely am off battery, and when I do I'm in Windows doing projects in my programming class (using Visual Studio) at school, but I can say that the brightness obviously affects battery life, probably an extra hour or two taken off.

I'm kind of surprised Apple hasn't fixed this yet, though.

The fix will come with the update 10.6.2. But you know, it's not that simple!

Among those components are AppleBacklight, Battery Menu, Dictionary, Expose, FileSync, Family Controls, Fonts, Front Row, HFS, Inkwell, iPhoto, MobileMe, OpenCL, Parental Controls, QuickTime, Screen Sharing, Spell Checker, Spotlight, Time Machine, and USB.

I'm in the same situation, owning a Macbook Pro 13.3 2.26Ghz.

Cheers

Well, gents, I just wanted to say that it has been a pleasure conversing with you guys about this problem. We should all give ourselves a pat on the back for doing our part to make Apple aware of this issue. You guys really helped keep the frustration down and also helped me from blowing my money on a 15" in a fit of rage.
I was so excited when I heard about this update today I hijacked an ethernet port from a campus computer and downloaded all 1.54GBs of the update (we aren't allowed to do that for security reasons, of course). My alibi? "This is an IT emergency!" People do not question my authority when you invoke the name of ITS (Information Technology Services).
But I am rambling. Gents, it was a helluva time getting here and CONGRATULATIONS to us all!!!!

And happy Modern Warfare 2 day for all of you who are gamers ;P
