Here's a wierd one!

Latest tiger and FCP Studio updates. Everything really groovy. Project started a couple of weeks ago, put to bed. Resurrected by client who now wants to do a series of webcasts based on the design of the original project.

Open project file, save as new project name. Import new photos and sound tracks, start new sequence. Add the elements to the sequence: premixed track, jumpback bg, still image, edit in appropriate b-roll with 8 point matte. Here's where it gets wierd.

Because the type treatment of the original show is a huge part of the new one, I opened one of the original sequences, pasted one of the lower thirds over the new sequence. Fine, just changed the name and title and location. Kept all the attributes. All good. Then selected a "call out" piece of title from the original sequence and pasted that in. IT DOESN'T SHOW UP IN THE TIMELINE, BUT I GET A RED RENDER BAR WHERE I PLACED IT. I can see it in the canvas. If I double click it, it opens in the viewer and from there I can cut it in again. There's nothing to select to delete the original instance.

I'm about to repair permissions, run fcp rescue and I hope it will then show up. Phantom clip!!

Strange. Anyone else ever see this one?

Just for grins, Jim, try this way rather than copy and paste:

In the old sequence, double-click to load the title into the Viewer, then open the new sequence and Overwrite into the new sequence's timeline. Now double-click the title and make your character changes.

The downside of this method is the limit on the length of the clip to the duration of the clip in the old sequence, I think. But I haven't tried that way in a month of Sundays, so I might be remembering wrong.

And it might not resolve the problem - it's just for grins.

Betcha Jerry's on to it. Boris, strikes again.

Used to use Graffiti all the time but got tired of the "Boris" weirdness - when upgrading. No prob if you use the current plugin with fcp - just with older proj's.

Seems like they always do something a little different to the plugin or it plays differently somehow. Open the proj back up and you'll maybe have something else go weird. I know this is with Calligraphy but I've found that to be the same - a little weird at times.

I found that it was easier in the short term to recreate the title with the latest version. A pain but ...

An idle $0.02c worth.

Here's a wierd one!
