Snow Leopard freezes over time

I've been using Snow Leopard (upgraded from leopard) for 2 days now. One thing I discovered is that, when I'm working on a few applications ( like Adium, Firefox, Pages, and etc. ) , the app which I'm working on started to freeze. When this happen, what ever window I click from then on will freeze too ( this includes finder as well because I'm trying to force quit applications ).

Hi, I am using LDAP and Kerberos from an Open Directory. But the local system uses a similar system to check credentials and I have the same issue with local users.

I fixed my machine at least, uptime: 2 days, 15h 08m. And it wasn't because of bad extensions (although Adobe VersionCue CS4 made my machine crash after sleep), just restart DirectoryService every so often.

I wrote a script to do this as I detailed before. Check my blog at http://rcbi.rochester.edu/users/vanooste for more information.

I wipped the partition and reinstalled Slow Leopard because of these issues. It was good for about 1.5 days but the morning it would not wake-up from sleep. I found the following in my system log...

Oct 12 09:57:20 Mikes-MacBook [0x0-0x1c01c].com.apple.iTunes[348]: Child process initialized.
Oct 12 10:00:21 Mikes-MacBook [0x0-0xd00d].org.mozilla.camino[196]: Debugger() was called!

Oct 12 11:39:07 localhost com.apple.launchd[1]: * launchd[1] has started up. *
Oct 12 11:39:11 localhost DirectoryService[15]: Improper shutdown detected

I had to press and hold the power button. So much for "It just Works!!!" If I had to guess, I would say Slow Leopard is having a problem with my external monitor on the display port. Hello nVidia. Where are you?

Before the upgrade to snow leopard I could leave my macbook pro 13" unplugged in battery mode for hours, and return to take it out of sleep mode with lots of battery life remaining. Now when I return it is dead, with battery completely drained, and will only return to life if I plug it in. Is there a bug in snow leopard that is allowing my battery to drain rapidly in sleep mode? Is the only fix to this problem to return to leopard? Much of what I loved about the mobility of my macbook has suddenly vanished, when I thought I was "upgrading." Beyond the annoyance of diminished battery life, I am concerned that this is putting undue strain on my battery and diminishing its life (if it hasn't already somehow ruined it).

I am curious as to how many people has tried this Performance Update before I re-install SL again.

I +spread the word+ on the update last nite to as many beachball/freezing threads as I could find.

So far, 18 or so posters said it totally solved their problem for now.
The only ones that didn't have luck were those who had Mac's not listed in this About the Performance update link.
