Using OpenDNS with AppleTV causes Reboot Loop

I initially thought my AppleTV had a harware failure, and had it exchanged at the Apple Store. However, when I brought the new one home I had the same problem.

I use OpenDNS on my Network. Its a great service. However, for some reason unknown to me, it causes the AppleTV to reboot.

I am using AT&T DSL service. When I use AT&T DNS Servers (also tried Verizon's 4.2.2.x), the issue seems to go away. By default, my router was giving out the DNS settings to the clients. Meaning, rather than the router act as a DNS server, the clients would point to the same DNS server as the router. I attempted pointing my AppleTV to use my router for DNS, while the router was configured for OpenDNS, but it still had an issue.

I would suspect that it has something to do with the way OpenDNS is configured. What I am unclear of, is if it's a setting I have, or if it is setting OpenDNS has that I can't modify.

I'm a computer engineer, so I'm not dim when it comes to testing these things. Later in the next week, I will attempt tinkering with OpenDNS Settings to see if there is any solution. The only problem is, OpenDNS setting changes take up to 15 minutes to take affect.

Has anyone else seen issues with using OpenDNS on their AppleTV and found a solution (other than using a different DNS Server).

Are You also runing the latest firmware on the AppleTV?

What Model of Router do you have?

I have the latest firmware and my router is a Netgear WGR614 v7.

Assuming that you have the Latest Firmware, and that the router has noething to do with it, my only other guess would be that my settings are having an affect.

Have you any special settings on your account in OpenDNS?

Yes, I am certain. I manually entered the DNS Server. As I said, Im a Software Engineer, I'm not a novice. I am just trying to see if anyone else has already done the leg work since I haven't had time to sit down and trouble shoot this.

At the moment my AppleTV is using my MANUALLY entered DNS server of 4.2.2.3, which is a Verizon DNS Server. My OpenDNS is not at default, I have custom tweaks to block various known ad domains. Once I have a chance, I plan to look through my list to see if there are any issues there. OpenDNS also has a filter, to filter out certain types of traffic that Im using.
