Q: How to change User Name?

I am prepping an old snowflake iMac to give to a school. It's running 10.2 and cannot be upgraded because it does not read DVD's. I have done a Secure Empty Trash and cleared the machine of all data and 3rd-party apps. The only other thing I need to do is change the username, which is a person's full name and has to go. How can I do that? Can it be done without the original install discs?
Thanks very much.

You need the original installation discs for any machine you are giving away or selling. See my FAQ* on selling machines:

You are posting in the Leopard 10.5 forum area. You should post in the iMac forum comparable with your model. However, that said, if the 10.2 Jaguar disks are missing you can try this:

HOWTO: running Mac OS X Setup Assistant again
    1. Boot the Mac in single user mode, by holding down Command + S.
    2. Do a filesystem check and mount the volume to write to it:
    fsck –yf
    mount –uw /
    3. Remove current Netinfo database:
    cd /private/var/db/netinfo
    mv local.nidb local.old
    4. Force Apple Setup to launch on next startup:
    rm ../ .AppleSetupDone
    5. Shut down the mac:
    shutdown –h now
    6. Delete the home folders from users on the system in /Users! After setting up the
    new owner
