Question

Importing a DVD into FCP

Read Nick's MPEG streamclip tutorial and on the second setting window, the DVD shows at 854x480. Set as per tutorial including lower field first. When I go to "make movie", message comes up "Error-can't create the mov. file
Double checked to make sure all other settings as indicated. This is a 16x9 formatted DVD which I am importing into a HDV timeline.

Any help much appreciated!!

Nick's tutorial is PAL oriented (and why not, there are lots of us over here :-))

If you're transcoding from an anamorphic NTSC DVD, select Apple DV - NTSC as your compression setting. Stick with 720x480 for the frame size and flag the clip as 16:9 anamorphic when you import it into FCP.

Thanks Denis . . forgot to mention I had changed it from PAL knowing that was an issue. Thanks for the other tips . . . will give it a go.
