Parental Controls proxy server interferes with third party proxy server

Not a question, but posting this in case anyone else has this problem and is looking for a solution.

We have a lab full of iMacs and need parental controls to prevent users from opening certain applications and utilities (terminal, system prefs, etc). We are not using parental controls to filter web content (this is set to allow unrestricted access). The iMacs connect to the internet through our own proxy server, but it turns out that Parental controls uses its own proxy server (httpsproxyd) which is turned on automatically when Parental Controls is activated, regardless of whether or not the particular account's internet access is being filtered. Idiotic. See a description of this below.

So apparently what happens is that Parental Control's httpsproxyd prevents our proxy server from being verified (error 407). As a result, we had to turn this off in order for the computers to be able to connect to the internet by doing the following (sent via remote desktop as root).

sudo chmod a-x /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FamilyControls.framework/Versions/A/Resources /httpsproxyd

Dear Apple. Please fix this.

Note: I have tested Snow Leopard and do not know whether SL fixes this problem or not.
Thanks.

Thank you for posting your terrific solution! My lab of iMacs was having the same problem, and your code worked perfectly. I didn't use ARD to push it out since Terminal called for an admin password when I tested the code on one machine, and I haven't yet sent out a root command through ARD.

All my iMacs are now hummin' on the web!

2009 iMacs running 10.5.8 using Parental Controls, but no web restrictions.

sudo chmod a-x /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FamilyControls.framework/Resources/webfilterc tl

will solve the problem created by the SSL censoring exerted as soon as Parental Controls is enabled under 10.6.2 (not tested with earlier versions).
