Oct 1, 2009 4:00 AM in response to Pascal Nardotby Adam Bazaroff,When Apple fix this problem?? I can't work! My office is stopped... -
Oct 1, 2009 3:36 PM in response to Ryan83by rickrob,Sounds like there is still no fix to this problem. I posted a few weeks ago. Since then, I have reinstalled leopard, my wifi works fine again. I refuse to reinstall snow leopard until this problem is fixed. Installing SL did nothing for me except cause problems. If you are thinking about installing SL without a real need for it, don't. Wait until these bugs have been fixed. -
Oct 1, 2009 3:47 PM in response to Ryan83by Eprom,I have tryed all the tips in this topic, but still my connection keeps dropping out. I never had this issue with 10.5 -
Oct 6, 2009 12:45 AM in response to DTsuiby Auger0_0,This would make sense if the network card is firstly listening for an IPV6 notification before stepping down to IPV4 if the timeout for the network connection is set too low and the card doesnt see an IPV6 notification before the timeout this may explain why it keeps dropping. Just a thought -
Oct 6, 2009 4:32 AM in response to Auger0_0by Auger0_0,the switching off of IPV6 support seems to reslve the issue, this is more than likely due to the IP stack waiting for an IPV6 join message which on an IPV4 netowrk would never be seen. So although the IPV4 fallback seems to work for a time the IP stack times out because it doesnt see the IPV6 join complete.
So for the time beign the solution is switch off IPV6 support in the network configuration -

Oct 6, 2009 9:58 AM in response to Ryan83by Jodin,Count me in as someone having this problem as well. And yes, I did the update to 10.6.1. And yes, I tried changing the service order, deleting the preferences, and deleting IPV6 support as suggested above.

Oct 6, 2009 10:23 AM in response to Ryan83by surfadelic,I too have had problems staying connected to the internet via Wi-Fi since installing Snow Leopard in my MacBook. I have had the laptop checked by authorized service technicians, installed additional RAM and purchased a brand new external modem. I have had no such problems with Eithernet connection or with operating my older iMac that is using OSX but not Snow Leopard. I have visited my internet service provider and they said since I continue to stay connected with my older computer, the problem is not with their system.
For some reason I am usually disconnected at about 10 PM (Pacific Daylight Time). Sometimes running through the "Network Diagnosis" drills will suddenly re-connect me. Usually I get a pop-up that says my network configuration has changed, but I haven't changed any settings. Sometimes turning off AirPort for a minute and then turning it back on makes a connection, and sometimes turning off the new modem does the trick.
I wish Apple would address this issue soon.... -
Oct 6, 2009 12:17 PM in response to Jodinby Jodin,An update: It seems to work at my home, but not at my significant other's home. At home I use an old Apple Airport that's connect to an Actiontec modem that my isp gave me. I'll have to update this again when I figure out the modem at my sig other's place is. I know it's a wireless modem that her isp (Qwest) gave her. -

Oct 6, 2009 3:53 PM in response to Ryan83by bobbiec,I am so frustrated as I am having the same issues. Want to reinstall Leopard, but first want to know if there is any issue I should know. I don't want to just use my time machine backup to go back to Leopard because I have tried this for almost a month now and I would lose too much information if I restore from early Sept. So I need to install from disk which I have. Can someone please tell me if I can do that. Will I need to unistall OS 10.6.1 and if so, how do I do that. I cannot work with having to reboot 50x a day to keep an internet connection. I never had this problem with Leopard 10.8 and my husband has a PC having no issues, so I KNOW it is not my modem. Can someone tell me if they have successfully used their old Leopard disk and gone back to the old Leopard. Thanks for any help -
Oct 6, 2009 3:57 PM in response to bobbiecby Jodin,Instead of restarting, I found I could get my internet back for a few minutes by just turning my airport card on and off through the icon at the top of the screen. -
Oct 6, 2009 5:06 PM in response to Ryan83by Merged Content 1,Utter BS. All Apple gear...brand new 17MBP + AE.
Get it together Apple...this internet thing is kind of popular. -
Oct 6, 2009 10:26 PM in response to Ryan83by sjrozas,Add another user to the list. From Apple's silence on the issue, internet is something they feel we don't need. I'll check back from my PC for a solution. No problems there. -
