Feb 27, 2010 12:42 PM in response to samuelaebiby William Kucharski,Are you connected to an 802.1X network? You shouldn't be receiving EAPOL packets otherwise -
Feb 28, 2010 10:48 AM in response to William Kucharskiby samuelaebi,Nope, not connected to a 802.1X network, was wondering about that as well... -
Feb 28, 2010 10:50 AM in response to samuelaebiby samuelaebi,...then again, wpa also uses EAPOL-Key frames, as far as I know... -
Feb 28, 2010 7:10 PM in response to samuelaebiby PCServices.info,It does
Also, WiFi is 802.11 so it is an 802.1x network.

That's not true; 802.1X is a specific subtype referring to an 802.1 network using port-based network access controls.
You can read more on 802.1X here:

Mar 1, 2010 9:05 AM in response to William Kucharskiby samuelaebi,Doesn't really matter, does it...?
Fact is that my network still freezes up, again two times today.
Apple, if you're reading this, do something! -
Mar 1, 2010 11:37 AM in response to samuelaebiby William Kucharski,As has been mentioned several times, the official way to contact Apple, especially if you want them to address an issue, is to contact AppleCare.
We're all just fellow users here. -
Mar 1, 2010 6:59 PM in response to William Kucharskiby PCServices.info,Oops, my mistake. I shouldn't post at 3am -
Mar 2, 2010 5:33 AM in response to PCServices.infoby samuelaebi,I already did that. Twice. It does not seem like they have a clue how to help me. Maybe the technicians here in Germany aren't as good as in the US, but they didn't make the best impression on me. Also, from what I read on the web and in this forum it doesn't seem to be an isolated problem. And I'm pretty sure Apple looks at these forums, especially at a thread that covers 40+ pages...
I've come to the conclusion that this is a software bug in SL. I hope someone can prove me wrong or they fix it soon. -
Mar 2, 2010 5:41 AM in response to William Kucharskiby ranger2339,I've contacted Apple Care a dozen times, via email and phone. Soon as I start talking about dropping WIFI, they either dont email me back, or they start blaming everything but themselves.
I'm beginning to think the people at Apple Care are clueless sheep, that just read off a script.
I'm about to just waste a whole day sitting at the Apple store, to see if I can get my computer to drop wifi in the store, then see what they have to say. -
Mar 2, 2010 9:07 AM in response to ranger2339by samuelaebi,Apple used to develop hardware/software combos that would just work. I know that nobody can produce bug-free software, every system has its problems. But a basic feature like Wifi functionality should just work. Out of the box. Would be nice if Apple spent a little bit more energy on covering the basics and a little bit less on developing gadgets, that frankly, I couldn't care less about. -
Mar 2, 2010 10:34 AM in response to ranger2339by wifiguru, ranger, which AP model are you using ? Please mention the firmware version too. Also have you tried setting up another machine and when the wireless connection dies, have you checked if all the machines drop the wireless connection or is it just the MAC ?
Make sure you check your router is actually not going down. Look at the lights on the router. -
Mar 2, 2010 10:43 AM in response to wifiguruby Robin Bonathan,This is getting silly.
I have 2 new macbook pro's in the house and a windows laptop.
Either mac running 10.6.2 will randomly loose its connection to the router.
While this happens everything else works until the other mac drops out at a later time.
I am convinced its snow leopard thats is the problem. -
Mar 3, 2010 8:04 PM in response to Ryan83by pedrosaddi,I'm just waiting for 10.6.3
If it don't fix my airport, my mac will go to doctor and i hope they replace this (&ˆ@#*&#@)(. In Brazil, the repair will last 2 weeks. Will be a GIANT problem for my work, so.... fingers crossed. -
Mar 3, 2010 10:03 PM in response to Ryan83by TrueSongMedia,I have the same problem with 10.6 on a MBP 4,1.
It worked great with 10.5. This is definitely a Snow Leopard bug.
Come on, Apple. Let's see a fix!
