Mar 29, 2010 11:39 AM in response to ihsoyby ihsoy,Awesome, I went 20 minutes without dropping wifi, instead of just 5 like it has been lately.
That's a 300% improvement in performance, right?
Right? -
Mar 29, 2010 1:12 PM in response to ihsoyby Maddoktor2,Didn't work here, either. In fact, it drops out sooner than it used to.
This latest update only made it worse than ever.
WTG, Apple. GG.

Mar 29, 2010 4:04 PM in response to Ryan83by kylo444,I've been having insane wireless issues for months now that are definitely not router related. The other Mac on the NW runs perfectly, as does my PS3. But this Macbook is driving me nuts.
Updated to 10.6.3
Belkin Wireless G Router
Late 2006 Macbook, 2GB of Ram
The internet will run smoothly but randomly (and more frequently) upon opening a new page (Kotaku as an example, it likes to hang on that site) it'll instantly stop working. Airport has full bars but iStat says there is nothing incoming. I'll see the banner at the top of the site but the rest of the page won't load. Other websites won't come up at all. After a minute or two I refresh and it's back to normal. At the same time, every instance where this happens the CPU heats up to 80 celsius and the fans start blowing at 6800rpm. Once it slows down and is back to normal temperature the computer works again. I have no idea how to fix this.
It happens in every browser.
Other times, like when downloading the update, the internet will be downloading at full speed. I've read everything on how to fix this and nothing. Reset the Vram, Pram, repaired permissions, Router settings, DNS, browser options. I've been putting up with it for almost a year now. My last hope was to wait for this update and it's still doing it. Any miracle solutions?
Is it an HD cache problem or what? I hate it.

Mar 29, 2010 4:53 PM in response to kylo444by california99,See what Apple says about the 10.6.3 update, released today, vis a vis wireless:

It says:
"general reliability for wireless connections"
Yes, indeedy - I can now rely on it to generally drop the wireless connection even sooner than it did before. Apple sure improved the speed on that one, all righty. -
Mar 29, 2010 10:39 PM in response to Ryan83by FrankeeD,I've had the problem ever since I got my MacBook Pro. It got worse with the 10.6.2 "update" and continues to be just as bad with the latest update.
It's definitely a problem with the newer MacBooks. My wife has a G4 PowerBook and even when it's sitting right next to the MacBook Pro, it keeps the connection, although the MacBook Pro drops it and then can't find it.
I'm using Airport Express. -
Mar 30, 2010 3:34 AM in response to Ryan83by samuelaebi,Really disappointed.
Updated yesterday evening. Since then my connection froze 3 times. Same thing again, airport stays connected at full bars but I can't get my browser (or bonjour, etc for that matter) to connect anymore.
It's really starting to **** me off, I don't know how many times I was in the middle of something when this happened, and how much time I lost because of it.
So now the wait begins for the next update?

Meanwhile, you could consider registering as an Apple Developer (it’s free) — then you can use the Apple Bug Reporter to submit and track bug reports for Mac OS X:

Mar 30, 2010 4:10 AM in response to samuelaebiby davidcie,Well, I'm certainly not patient enough to sit and wait - especially since we've no idea if Apple ever bothers to fix this at all. I'm selling my worthless MacBook and getting a Dell laptop with Win7 that 'just works'. It even has wifi! No ethernet cables required! Wooohay!
(For the record: I did submit a detailed bugreport back last year, updated it several times, but never heard back from Apple.) -

So when you say worthless, I'm sure you mean that you'll be giving it away, right?
I run Win7 on my work laptop, and it is certainly the best Microsoft OS in a while. Why don't you just install Win7 on your Macbook?
(If you do decide to give away the worthless Macbook, let me know, I'll even pay for shipping!) -
Mar 30, 2010 7:22 AM in response to ihsoyby NicholasKell,I can understand everyones frustration, me included. I am not trying to make anyone mad here, but the last two posts add absolutely nothing to the dialogue of the discussion.
Buying a computer from Dell? Install Windoze 7 on a Mac? -
Mar 30, 2010 8:30 AM in response to NicholasKellby tmessing,I updated this morning as well and continue to have the same issue.
Wireless icon pulses (lack of a better term). I shut down airport. I restart airport and I'm back up and running.
Linksys wrt54g
DHCP with static ip address on MBP.
No issues prior to 10.6. -

Just to clarify, the airport icon doesn't stay at full black bars?
Here the airport icon stays connected, I just don't have any throughput anymore until i turn airport off and on.
Just to know, who else reading this has exactly the same problem? -
Mar 30, 2010 9:48 AM in response to samuelaebiby tmessing,No, mine pulses. If I click on it and select my wireless network it pulses for awhile longer and then it prompts me for my WPA2 password. I just find it easier to turn it off and back on. It then connects back automatically. -
Mar 30, 2010 9:56 AM in response to tmessingby NicholasKell,Mine does the same. Pulses, I turn it (airport) off then on, everything is ok and connected for a while.
If it is any help, I am using a 2WIRE router / modem combo.
