Can't print on bluetooth printer?

I have a HP PhotoSmart C5580 A.I.O printer with bluetooth capabilities. I have been trying to set it up on my MacBook Pro (running on Leopard) for months now. My bluetooth is turned on, and the printer is listed under devices on the bluetooth. However, every time I try to print is wont connect.
I know absolutely nothing about bluetooth, so it may be a very simple thing that I am just missing.
help?

I have the same printer and I'm successfully printing via bluetooth. I first installed the printer with a USB following the instructions of the manufacturer (but I'm almost sure this step is not necessary) then proceeded with the bluetooth connection.

1.Open a document to print

2.Choose File>Print

3.In the printer pop-up menu where it says Printer choose *Add Printer*

4.A window opens, choose Bluetooth at the top of the window

5.Your printer should appear (the printer has to be on and with the bluetooth device attached)

6.Click the *name of the printer*

7.Click Add

The problem I have is that when I'm going to print a document in the printers list I have two Photosmart c5500, I select the second in the list and walas it prints. Probably the USB installation was not necessary.

At this moment I can't scan via bluetooth but I think I read that the scanning option is not available via bluetooh.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm having the same problem with a different printer. I used to be able to print to my canon printer through bluetooth. After upgrading to snow leopard I can't (but can print using a cable). When I try to follow the instructions above I'm stuck at this step 4.

"4.A window opens, choose Bluetooth at the top of the window"

I can't "choose Bluetooth". The only options are: Default, Fax, IP and Windows.

I can set up my printer as a bluetooth device (it shows on the list and goes through the setup process) but it is not connected.

Very frustrating!

Same here, guess I'm not alone.

I have been printing to a Samsung ML-2010 since 10.4 Tiger on an AnyCom PM-300 dongle, and have never had an issue until Snow leopard. I shared the printer wirelessly throughout the house to 3 Macs.

Since updating when I finally get Bluetooth to recognize the dongle, I go to printers and the only facility now available to add the printer is the Fax Icon on the toolbar calling it a Bluetooth DUN, obviously not the right one.

Looks like another oversight in the rush to release.

Grrrr - note to self (for the 15th time)
I will not early adopt
I will not early adopt
I will not early adopt.

Well, maybe this once. Get out the old 10 foot usb cable I guess.

Jamy

I was also having this problem pairing my MacBook Pro with my Canon MP610. In step 4, when the window opens with the options for "Default, Fax, IP, and Windows" type "bluetooth" into the search bar on the right. Your printer should then show up if you have already paired it with your mac.

Also, I just recently updated to OS X 10.6.2. I am not sure if that is crucial or not.

Hope this helps!
