iCal events showing dahed line border

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have noticed that some of my events show up in iCal with a clear background and a dashed line border around them. I cannot get them to show the calendar color even if I switch the calendar they are in.

What the heck is going on?

Glad I'm not the only one seeing this behavior, though sorry there are others.

I cannot figure out whether the events that are “clear” are ones I've moved or not. Maybe I've changed something about the event... Really quite odd in that these are not appearing this way on my MobileMe calendar or on my iPod Touch.

Hopefully someone else has seen this and knows what to do!

Would that were the case here. These events originated with my iCal, which sent out invitations to listed attendees. When those attendees accepted the meeting requests, they were marked so. When I switched over to Snow Leopard, those events ended up with a clear background. I've checked and rechecked them all and there is no popup save for the normal popup which allows to “Edit” or “Done,” neither of which, when clicked, will proffer a way to accept an invitation. And nothing appears in the notifications list either.

Thanks anyway!

Same issue here.

When I made the switch to Snow Leopard, I observed this behavior - all my iCal events from work turning grey/white, with dashed lines. Over time, as I received new invites from work I noticed that they were coming in properly colored, so I figured the grey/white events would eventually disappear over time and I would just live with it.

I was performing some system maintenance this weekend and noticed that my "~/Library/Caches" directory had grown to ~1.5GB. In the interest of recovering disk space I deleted the entire contents of "~/Library/Caches." I've done this many times before, without issue. When I later opened iCal, I noticed that all of my work events (events that I received by e-mail invite) had turned back to grey/white, with dashed lines. I later found out that when I dumped all the caches it included this folder: "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal."

Another piece of the puzzle....

Hi there.

I am having the same problem here. I migrated to a new MacBook Pro from my previous one using a time machine recover and most of my iCal events turned grey with dashed line as border.

It seems that the events that are having this problems are the one initially created from Novell Groupwise (I am forwarding them automatically to my Mail app so that I can double click on it to have a copy in iCal).

Any help would be appreciated.

Again, not a solution, but an echo.

My Mac Mini performed an automatic update yesterday, and when I today turned it on and opened up iCal, several of my events have been made clear with a dashed border.

For me it appears that all of the dashed events are repeated events (although there are other repeated events that have not been dashed).

It's a Microsoft Exchange calendar but as far as I can remember all the events were created in iCal (though some may have been made in Entourage during an iCal tantrum).

I observed this as well. Some number of my calendar events had a dashed line border. However, when I executed the "Calendar/Refresh All" command, the entries changed to the color of the calendar with which they are associated. Presumably, for some reason these (seemingly random) entries needed to be re-synced with our Exchange server. They all look fine now.

I had the same problem when I imported my Outlook data. I've had to re-accept each appointment for it to change to the relevant calendar colour.

I did however somehow manage to become the organiser of one of these imported items (where I was only an attendee originally). I think I did this by editing the appointment before accepting it and have no way of changing it back other than to delete and ask the real organiser to re-send the meeting request.

Oh well, I'll get used to this Mac stuff soon!

I don't no if this is related to the 10.6.4 Update, but I noticed that random calendar events were showing up this way today. The calendar is an exchange 2007 calendar and is the only one I use for work.

This is what I did to resolve the issue, went into ~/Library and moved the Calendars folder to my desktop. Opened iCal and re-added my exchange calendar under preferences>Accounts and let it re-sync. Then deleted the folder on the desktop. You could probably get away with just deleting every thing in ~/Library/Calendars/"UID".exchange/ except for info.plist (which contains your exchange calendar server settings).

If you have local calendars *DON'T DELETE THE ENTIRE ~/Library/Calendars/ FOLDER* or you may loose your calendars.
