I am using a 17" MacBook Pro with a Dell 1907 Flat Panel as a second display. The Dell has four USB ports on it. Can anyone tell me how I can utilize these with my Mac? A few extra usb ports would really come in handy. Any Dell info I find has very little mention of Mac help.
Thank you!!

MacBook Pro,
Mac OS X (10.5.2),
2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram
I tried that and got no response. I tried rebooting with it connected, rebooting with it powered off and then plug it in, etc. I have a couple more things to try. I actually thought it would be as simple as plug it in, but when that didn't work, I wondered if there was some 'communication' issue that I wasn't aware of. Thanks for the help.
Goolge search your model. then (via the Dell site) find the manual...
I say this as they are all slightly different...
on my Dell monitor all the USB (attatched equipment) have to be USB 2 for some reason ?
also there is only one MASTER USB2 connector (on the bottom of mine);
and all the others are Slaves to this Master connection (between the monitor and the MAC) ie if this is Specific USB is not connected to the MAc, none of the others will work...
dell term them upstream and downstream connectors
(i think ) the upstream is the one you connect to the mac
the others are downstream to anything else USB2 .. though I'd be weary if they require usb power.
hope that helps 😉
The Dell monitors I've had in the past have used a USB type B cable to input the USB signal. You'll need a USB type A to USB type B - connect the type A end into your Mac and the type B end into the Dell monitor.
