Unable to connect to system running 9.2

I've got a G4 with a s SCSI scanner running OS 9.2. I'll scan documents and then attach to the g4 from my Mac Pro running 10.5 to pull them across.

I upgraded to 10.6. I connect to the G4 using afp://192.168.1.106 and see both internal drives. I click either drive and get a error message that says there's trouble connecting.

The G4 thinks there is a connection made because I get the connected user message when I shut it down.

Any ideas?

TIA

Hi Mike,
I'm in a similar boat since my old SCSI Minolta 35mm slide/negative scanner only runs on an old Mac using )S 9. OS 9.x has AFP 2.2 while OS X.6 upgraded to AFP 3.0. As these are incompatible, file sharing via TCP/IP is broken.

However, you can still use good ol' FTP to transfer your files between Macs.

You will need the FTP client Transmit 1.7---now freeware---from <http://www.panic.com/extras/>

In OS X you will need to enable FTP Sharing in System Preferences>Sharing. You may need to turn off Sharing and then turn it on in order to see the Option button so you can select FTP and also directories to be share.

To transfer files, you will need to go Transmit and log on to your OS X Mac. then select your files on the G4 and drop into OS X's directory.

Separately I was hoping ShareWay would be updated for older macs. That app was good under Leopard has it restored better functionality to AFP sharing.
