tethering - issue with dirvers

i'm trying to set up tethering for my windows xp pc. i have itunes installed.

when i activated tethering on my iphone and select USB, i get a message saying cannot install this hardware and it shows "Apple Mobile Device Ethernet".error occurred during the installation of the device, fatal error during installation.

when i go into computer management and select the iphone device and properties, i ask it to re-install the drivers. i get the exact same message.

I've got the same problem after I reinstalled OS.
Since 2 days ago, everything was working well; since i reinstalled XP PRO, the PC couldn't install the drivers.
I checked in System/Hardware and the iPhone network peripheral is marked with a ⚠ and no driver is installed.
I tryed to manually force it to load drivers from Mobile Device Support folder, but it always pops the message "Irreversible Error: Impossible to install device".

Is there any workaround for that?

Try this:

On Windows:
Go to Start > Search and under filename type "netaapl.sys" then choose to "look in" C:\Windows\System32\
Click "Search"

When I did this my computer found the driver under some super loooooooong folder name ("C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\netaapl_F433E854B3FF3BEE74986FDE8E16A64162342BFF " to be exact!.) Once found I copied that folder name to the location in the windows driver installation box and the file "netaapl.sys" was found and installed instantly!

Hope this helps! Now I'm having an IP address problem, but at least got past the first error 🙂.

Cheers,
Ryan
