Greetings,

RPC is a technology for Outlook Web Access and Exchange, not Mail and Exchange, so the answer would logically be that it is not supported. Entourage for Mac 2008 also does not support that.

RPC is strictly for an Outlook/Exchange connection. Apple's Mail program only connects via IMAP, which it sounds like is disabled on your company's mail servers. We are using Exchange 2007, and our OWA servers also have the hub transport role installed on them. We allow SMTP and IMAP connections and by entering the OWA server address (actually autodiscover worked, so I didn't have to enter anything) everything connected fine. Now, there is a different problem where you can't move e-mail messaged to a different folder, but that's already open in another thread.

This reply isn't correct. I've successfully connected to an exchange server using entourage (pre 2008); initial access needs to be configured over a VPN, which is subsequently unnecessary.

I'm not entirely sure whether this was via rpc/http or webdav BUT the calendars populated with information from the exchange servers and scheduling is possible although not with resources etc. as in Outlook. This certainly wouldn't have been possible with IMAP.

Yes, SL mail can provide RPC over HTTP. However you need to have access to owa also.

It works very good on my laptop, without VPN.

In the account, you have an internal and external server - in the advanced you have internal server path and external server path.

The external server in my case is the name of our owa server. E.g

Internal mail server: mail.company.internal
External mail server: webmail.company.com

Under Advanced:

Internal server path: EWS/Exchange.asmx
External server path: EWS/Exchange.asmx

Some need to turn SSL on or off, depends on their Exchange 2007 setup.
