Snow Leopard : print drivers for Canon PM620

I have just installed Mac OSX Snow Leopard and cannot now use my Canon MP620 printer. I have tried reinstalling it but it continues to tell me that I need to install the print driver software or contact Canon. I have tried to contact Canon and download any print driver for the MP620 that is compatible with Snow Leopard. Their is not a new print driver available from Canon or Apple !!!!! Apple state in their literature that Snow leopard will make sure that the most up to date software is available. Unfortunately the most up to date software is not compatible with Snow Leopard. Considering this particular printer is available on the apple store with a 3.5 star rating I wonder what apple intend to do about this problem? Which printers do work ? I need a printer urgently. Any suggestions out their .cm

I've got an MP620 and it's working fine in Snow Leopard. I did reinstall the CUPS Driver 10.11.2, ScanGear 14.5.0 and Printer Driver 7.12.2 from this page. Then I added the printer again in System Preferences. You have to wait a few moments before it shows up under More Printers (the button itself takes a moment to pop up).

In fact, printing and scanning wirelessly with the MP620 are working better than with Leopard.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your printer.

Just so you are aware. It is not Apple's responsibility to update 3rd party software such as printer drivers. This holds true for the hardware sold at the online Apple store. That is up to Canon to update their drivers to be compatible with 10.6.

Also, if you have any 3rd party software, not just drivers for printers that you have on your Mac, Apple is not responsible for updating their software either.

Check Epson for printers. They have already updated most of their models to be 10.6 compatible.

*"Apple state in their literature that Snow leopard will make sure that the most up to date software is available."*

They are referring to the Mac OS X system software. Not 3rd party software. "Snow Leopard" ...

I did exactly as cyvi937 suggested with my MP620, since I had the same problem after upgrading to Snow Leopard. From the Canon Europe support site (http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010642.asp), I downloaded cups driver 10.11.2, print driver 7.12.2, and scan gear 14.5.0 (the actual filename that downloaded seems to be 14.7.0, by the way). I installed them in the order listed above, added the printer, and tested wireless printing and wireless scanning. Both worked fine. I have not tested the USB connection, as the printer and iMac are in different rooms and I always use that printer wirelessly anyway. Thanks for the great solution.
