Can anyone help. I am having trouble when loading my JPEG images onto the photo machines at Harvey Norman. I load them onto a CF Card i.e. 200 images, when I plug the card into there machine it say there are 400 images (twice the ammount) and will not load the images on there machine. I feel the problem is something to do with the .Fseventsd .Spotlight-V100 .Trashes .BridgeLabelsandRatings hidden folder the iMac seem to add to my CF cards. What can I do apart from using someone else Windows PC everytime to delete the extra folders. Once I delete them the images load fine but it is not an idea situation trying to find a Windows PC always.
The .Fseventsd, .Spotlight-V100 and .Trashes file are created by OS X, but I've never had a problem with them at photo machines. You might be able to get the Mac to stop creating .Fseventsd and .Spotlight-V100 by going into System Preferences and telling both Time Machine and Spotlight to ignore the drive -- but I doubt the existence of these folders has anything to do with the trouble's you're having.
I'm more inclined to suspect the .BridgeLabelsandRatings folder -- which is created by Adobe Bridge (comes with lots of other Adobe products such as Photoshop and probably Lightroom if you happen to use either of those). It has files whose names correspond to your photos except the files contain meta-data. I'm thinking the photo machine is trying to load these files and not happy they don't contain typical JPEG file data.
If you are using Bridge to put the files on your card, try putting them in a folder on your Mac instead, then use Finder to copy them to your card. That way you'll get just the JPEGs without the .BridgeLabelsandRatings file (because Finder wont copy that hidden folder) and see if you have better luck.
Thank you so much for the reply, I will give that a try on my next trip to the photo store. Will keep you posted if I have any other problems. I do use Adobe Bridge CS3 that came with Elements 6 as I find it so easy to view the photos and them more it to the card without having to copy it. I do about 600 - 800 photo at a time. Is there a way I can move them in Finder or some other application without copying.
