Mini-DVI to Video Adapter

Hi All,

My problem is the **** thing isn't working. I bought a new s-video cable to try it out, and I've used the regular yellow A/V cable as well. When I plug the mini-dvi to video adapter into my mac, it changes resolution. But the TV shows nothing.

I have tried restarting it, nothing. I have turned off my TV, nothing. I've even one them both at the same time, NOTHING.

My TV isn't very old, only about 3 years. It is not HDMI or VGA friendly thought, so using this adapter is my only chance.

I'm really trying to figure out what else to do,

The newer MacBooks can't output composite or S-video. You'll need to use an external signal translator like the following:

I am having the same problem but I bought a new macbook (white) and have a new tv (samsung with S-video input). Are you saying that the new macbook - unlike my 2 year old model that I just turned in - won't allow this function?

same problem here... I've even been to an apple assistance center and they didn't have any solution for that problem... from the link it seems there is only a VGA output, a port the MacBook does not have.. do u have a name of a specific product (i live in Europe and cant order it from the US)

I'm having the same problem too. Only mine used to work (08 macbook running OSX 10.6.2). before the new .2 upgrade... the new upgrade was supposed to fix compatibility issues with some displays but i'm thinking someone rewrote the code and omitted support for this adapter. I've been trying to figure this out for the past week and so far nothing. Haven't tried returning the adapter yet because I can't get ahold of the apple stores people so i can do a return. Does anyone have an idea if this is the problem?.. if so is downgrading back to my SL original disk the only way to fix this? I've used my VGA adapter with no issues so this is really starting to bug me .. since only my work tv's run VGA and my home tv .. 3 year old samsung only has S-video and composite.

any help would be great.
