5 sec delay after pressing home button

Pretty much every time I press the home button from the "standby" position (nothing on screen) I get a 5 second delay before the screen turns on. Why does this keep happening?

OK, looks like more ppl are having this problem. Just googled a bit and found other threads on different forums as well. Since it happens on original 3G phones too I think it's a software issue that hopefully will be fixed in 3.1.

I suspect that's wishful thinking, since in reality very few are having this problem; you're just not hearing from those without this delay because this forum is like an ER and who goes there without being ill or injured.

My advice is to take the iPhone to Apple and have them check it out. What you are seeing is not normal for an iPhone with OS 3.0.1 and is unlikely to go away when you install 3.1

I posted this on another thread, but here's the fix;

I ended up calling Apple again today and they told me that I wasn't supposed to restore from backup but just start all over again as a new phone when I do the factory restore
Be sure to back up your photos on your camera roll as they will be deleted.
You can resync everything else but apps will have to be re-downloaded because they'll be gone too. Also notes, lists etc.

Apple's thinking is there might be errors in the backup and by using it to resync you're just loading the problem back on to your phone.
