iphone 3GS skype problem

Hello, I am experiencing some difficulties on skype using with my iphone. My problem is that whenever I use skype to make phone calls on my iphone, it always quits the skype and goes to the iphone home page when I type more than 6 digits. I can't even type the complete the phone number on skype. Why is that and how do I fix this problem?

I am so looking forward to hear anything soon!

No such problem here; we use Skype on a 2G and a 3GS iPhone using our home wi-fi network. And I have used it on one other wi-fi net while traveling.

My suggestion is to remove Skype from your phone and re-install it.

thank you for your message. I've already tried to re-install the skype, but it doesn't work either. Do u think I should change some settings or is there a problem with my phone?

There appears to be only one Skype setting option in the Settings menu. BTW -- I have Version 1.0.3 installed on the 3GS.

Re the phone: Are any other web-based apps acting oddly? For example, do you have any problems when using Safari?

Oh .. and here at least you cannot use Skype across the phone network; you must have a wi-fi connection.

I have skype 1.2 installed on my iphone, if the upgraded version cause the problem how do I degrade it?

I have also just tried to reset my iphone and it still doesn't work. (does it do any harm to the phone itself? I noticed some settings have changed after I reset my phone. e.g. the language format and the order. I have no idea if the amount of languages have been reduced or not)

I am actually using a wi-fi connection.

It seems that there is a bug in the newest version skype so I guess I will try to get the old version on my iphone. Don't upgrade the skype on your iphone 🙂

Hey, thanks for the tip. Odd thing is that I thought I did have the latest version (I usually install all updates to all programs .. but not on the older, deactivated 2G iPhone, which is used only as a Skype phone now). I'm glad I mentioned what version I do have installed on the 3GS!

I see that thread includes a link to download the older version. Let us know if it solved the problem for you.

Skype 1.2 appears to have shown up on Sept 4. I guess I hadn't been to the iTunes store since then because when I went there after this discussion I found the Skype update and 8 others. Needless to say, I opted not to download Skype 1.2 because I had the good fortune to read this thread first.
