Canvas options and full screen playback

Hello, I'm looking for a way to change the canvas background to black. I can change the background of the video window to black, but what I'm trying to change is the area outside of the video. For example, if you go from the video fitting into your window to 50% and there is that gray area around your video....that's what I'm trying to change to black.

The other thing I would like to do is be able to show a video in Final Cut full screen so if a client comes into the office we can show it without showing the timeline and all the tools. There is a way to do it in Avid so I was thinking there should be a way to do it in here as well.

I know I can export it as a quicktime movie and play it full screen, but to save time and space I was hoping not to have to do that every time for proofing.

Thanks,

You want to go from this:

User uploaded file

To this:

User uploaded file

Correct?
Click the resize button on the top left -the one that is normally green in other application windows.
Save the layout: Windows > Window Layout > Save.

The other thing I would like to do is be able to show a video in Final Cut full screen...

View > Video Playback > Digital Cinema Desktop Preview.
View > Video > All Frames.

For larger playback there are a couple of ways to do it, perhaps the easiest:
Go to View>Video Playback>Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Main
To get the canvas background black, locate the drop down menu that is opened by clicking the 3rd button of the three that sit above the video in the canvas, look towards the bottom of the menu, you will have your choice of backgrounds.

The playback preview is just what I was looking for. Thanks!

The background however isn't quite what I was asking. What I'm looking to do is turn the gray area outside of the video area black. When I select the background colors it changes the background of the area the video goes on. What I'm looking for is the area around that. I've heard it referred to as the paste board in other programs. I'm not looking to resize the screen or anything, just change the gray outside the video area to black.

Thanks again,
