X11 $DISPLAY - Switching back to NON-ssh DISPLAY?

I have a requirement where I need to perform "old-school" X11 display. I have systems that do not have SSH. So I need to go through the old;
xhost +
telnet <remote_host>
setenv DISPLAY <SnowLeopard_host>😮.0
xterm.

I have recently upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I would like to set up X11 in non-ssh tunnelling. Any ideas on how to do this?
