In attempting to get quicktime x to run with one of my 3rd party apps, I inadvertantly "trashed" it. HOW DO I REINSTALL Quicktime X from my Snow Leopard, 10.6 disk??? I see only instructions to install Quicktime 7
Excuse me??? You just don't know what your going. I posted to the OP to use Pacifist to extract Quicktime from the install disc. Other have done it with success. You need to search the disc and find the program that your looking for... And please don't tell me what to post here.
again please tell me where it is located on the disk?
have you even tried? where do you get the evidence?
my background is network engineering.
my feeling is it cant be reinstalled without an archive and install.
if i give advice for my clients i provide the steps to actually do something so please don't come down on me for your answer
better yet point please where on the forum someone reinstalled quicktime x from the dvd and ill be glad to attempt it.. pacifist is a cool tool from what i see so far.
Correction.
I just finished reinstalling Quicktimeplayer via Pacifist and the location shown here is wrong.
I am too tired to even type the very long location.
But if you search for this exactly excluding quotes "Quicktime Player.app", you will find what you need.
(1) Dowload and install
Pacifist (2) Insert your Snow Leopard install DVD
(3) Run
Pacifist and choose "Open Apple Install Disks" (takes a bit)
(4) Search for "Quicktime Player.app"
(5) Select "Quicktime Player.app" (in Essentials.pkg/Applications) and choose "Install to Default Location"
Note that if your problem is that QuickTime won't play .MOV, this won't fix it.
