mail previewer pane freezing

I get the same issue -- are you using an Exchange account? I do, though I'm not sure it's related. But after a few minutes, message no longer appear in the preview pane - all I have is a blank/white pane, but opening the message works.

Ok, I'm really starting to think it's related to Exchange -- if I use the combined inbox, it happens as soon as I touch an exchange message. If I use the account specific folders, things seem to work fine -- until I go to the exchange account mailbox...

I'm having the same issue, the preview pane seems to freeze.

If I double click I can open the message in a window. Closing the mail window and re-opening usually solves the problem for me.

Same here ! No preview ! Shut down mail and reopen it, will show the selected message in preview pane. Selecting another message will show preview, selecting a third will show the text from second message but will loose the header. Very strange.
Closing and reopen mail window seems to fix it for me too ?!?

I've the same issue, mine happen normally when I'm writting a new e-mail and arrives new e-mails. After I send the e-mail or save it to draft box I'm unable to see the new emails on inbox.

The only solution has stated before is restart Mail.app. This is becoming annoying it start happening with much more frequency.

Is there any tip for this?

Having the same issue with Mail.app 4.0 in Snow Leopard - preview pane freezes frequently.

I would like to point out that this happened with the previous version of Mail.app in Leopard, so it's not a SL specific issue.

I am not using Exchange but am using multiple Gmail IMAP accounts, which have a whole other set of problems (making me loose a lot of hair and consider Thunderbird.)

Clarification: Turns our the preview pane problem was caused by a beta version of MailTags which has since been addressed by the developers. If you're having this issue check to see if you have plugins like MailTags, MailActOn, Growl Mail, etc. installed. Try disabling them and see if the issue persists.

I also use MailTags. I'll download release 2 and see if that fixes the issue.

I've got the latest version of Mail Act-on and Mail-Tags but the problem persists.

Further clarification. The initial release of MailTags for Snow Leopard had an issue previewing messages for some users. Release 2 fixed the apparent issue.

A few things to note though -- this problem was introduced by MailTags for Snow Leopard Release 1.

If you have a history of the problem or the problem exists in Leopard, it may not be MailTags (or at least I hadn't had reports of it)

If you do use MailTags Snow Leopard Release 2 and it seems to persist, I would like to know about as I may have not fully resolved the problem
