Adobe Reader with Snow Leopard

Adobe Reader with Snow Leopard

New user here, doe's anyone have a problem with Adobe Reader 8.1 working with Snow Leopard? It just won't pop up in Safari or any other browser when needed to view or read or print.
Any help would be appreciated,

If you want to use the Adobe Reader PDF plugin for Safari you probably need to launch Safari in 32-bit mode. Select Safari in the Applications folder and then do Cmd-I (Get Info) and check the box labeled:

Open in 32-bit mode

I have Adobe Reader 9.1.3 installed and it works fine, but I don't use the embedded PDF plugin, I just use the Apple one that comes with Safari.

Ok thank you. I have the 9.1.3 installed. Stupid question, how do I disable the adobe plug in? And enable the apple one?

Open *Adobe Reader -> Preferences...* and select Internet from the left hand column. Uncheck the box marked *Display PDF in browser using: Adobe Reader (9.1.3)*. I think that should automatically revert Safari back to using it's built-in PDF rendering.

You have to do the Internet preference change from an administrator account.

My problem with Adobe Reader 9.1.3 after installing SL is that whenever I try to open a .pdf document, I get this message: Adobe Reader could not open 'xxx.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. . . These are files that worked just fine before and haven't been opened since I upgrade to SL. Help! Please.
