Mouse moves randomly

My mouse cursor moves randomly around the screen, usually all the way across and almost always to one of the screen corners, in which I have hot corners enabled. I had this issue occasionally had this issue in Leopard, but now in Snow Leopard it's more common (maybe 5-10 times an hour). Any suggestions/solutions?

iMac 2.66 GHz standard configuration (April 2008), Wired keyboard & Mighty Mouse, Mac OS X (10.6), iPod Touch 1st Generation OS 3.0, D-link DIR-625 router, iLife 09, iWork 09

I noticed this problem after installing the latest version Lion/Leopard/Cat 10.8.3 last weekend, before was ok. i'm pretty sure Apple is covering up the **** issue giving crapy instructions everywhere on the Internet such as cleaning etc. PLEASE APPLE SOLVE IT NOW it's fkn unacceptable! i know you are reading this!

Hello m:

I suspect that is a mouse problem, although it is impossible to tell from here. I do not know of a setting or preference file that would cause that sort of behavior.

Like I said, I have had this problem in Leopard, though to a slightly lesser degree (in frequency of occurrence, not in how far the mouse pointer moves across the screen). I think 10.5.7 solved the problem though. It's probably a software issue. Can I "reset" the mouse and see if that does anything?

Mine moves too, since the SL upgrade. I am watching it inch toward the bottom left of my screen right now. Once it gets there it invokes a hot corner. Unplugging the mouse doesn't stop the movement! This is one of the strangest bugs I've seen on a Mac.

I have the exact same issue with my mouse!
Also happened in Leopard but more freq now in SL.
Gets on my nerves actually, thats how often it happens.

This happened to me only AFTER I reset the PRAM yesterday (due to an unrelated issue).

I just swapped mice with my Win 7 box.

I notice that sometimes in Boot Camp, and always with Parallels 4.0.xxx, both running Windows XP SP3, that the mouse does jerk, but the pointer seems to move away and then "snap" back to where it was, and it happens too fast for me to see if the pointer reacts normally while it's moving. Much as I don't like it, it looks like Microsoft has scored a meager point here. 🙂
