Sync to different computer - lose everything?

Since I am planning to travel I want to sync my iPod Touch to my laptop. I'd like to put some video podcasts on it to watch on the plane.
When I try to do this I get a message that all my existing content will be removed. Though I have synced the iPod with my desktop to set it up and to add some photos, I have never put any music or iTunes library on this iPod. I do have pictures and apps.
If I sync just the video podcast playlist (iTunes library) will I lose my pictures?
TIA

yes you can only sync to one itunes library.

but if you manually manage you should be able to do this.

I am trying to be as heavy handed at managing this thing as possible. Let me say I am very unhappy with Apple's attempt to control what, when, and how I place or remove iPod Touch content.

I'm still wondering if the *replace iTunes library* thing will remove my photos (apps?)?
