1TB Time Capsule WiFi and Blackberry

Hello,

I am having some trouble connecting to my new Time Capsule WiFi with my blackberry bold.

I previously used the white "UFO" Airport without issue.

Now, I cannot get my Blackberry to authenticate against the network. I have tried numerous configurations to no avail. I ensure that I connect to the standard 2.4ghz network and I have the Airport set to WPA/WPA2 PSK. I emailed this key to my BlackBerry to ensure there are no typos when entering the key.

Each time the blackberry attempts to connect and then errors with "Failed to authenticate against the network". A look in the Airport logs show:

Sep 09 13:15:52 Severity:5 Associated with station xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Sep 09 13:15:52 Severity:1 WPA handshake failed with STA xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx likely due to bad password from client
Sep 09 13:15:52 Severity:5 Deauthenticating with station xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (reserved 2).
Sep 09 13:15:52 Severity:5 Disassociated with station xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

(Naturally, I have obfuscated my real mac address).

I can't fathom out why it would determine that the password is bad. I have triple checked that it is set to WPA/WPA 2 Personal. I've even tried WPA 2 Personal only. When listing available networks, the Bold happily picks up both my network and guest network and lists the authentication correctly as WPA-2 Personal. The key is copied and pasted from an email with no spaces, carriage returns or other characters.

I am at a loss, really.

If I set the authentication to 'None' so that there is no password, the Bold connects without problem.

Any help or guidance appreciated.

I should quickly add that I have another iMac and two MacBooks both of which have no problem connecting to the Time Capsule. Indeed, I have set up one to back-up to the drive which it does without issue.

I have also pulled the battery from the Bold several times and pulled the power cable from the Time Machine also.

The only semi-logical explanation is that your password is being entered wrong on the BlackBerry.
Check the first letter... maybe it's being auto-capitalized by the device for some reason?

If it connects without a password, then there's no compatibility issue.
(I also have a Time Capsule, and a Bold, and they work fine together with WPA)

Try changing the password to something slightly less complex, but still secure, and see if you can get the two to talk.

Thanks, Rich, I appreciate the reply.

I did manually enter it a few times and kept getting the authorisation error so I emailed the password to my bold and did a copy and paste. I removed and spacing in the email and sent it as plain text. It copies fine into the Bold and I double checked it but each time it is refused.

I have tried a few different passwords to generate new WPA keys but each is refused.

It's good to know that you have it working fine. I shall continue to experiment.

For what its worth, I've already deleted all my existing WiFi profiles from the Bold to be sure.
