Home Sharing feature not working in iTunes 9

Has anyone using iTunes 9 gotten home sharing to work?

I have two Macs on a home network, both updated to iTunes 9.0, both authorized for "home sharing." When I launched iTunes 9 for the first time the Sharing tab was visible; I clicked it to go through authorization process, then it disappeared (once sharing was turned on). That behavior happens on both machines.

I'm seeing this also.

On 1 iMac is working fine, (and can see the library on my MacBook Pro.

On my MBP though, exactly the same symptoms however when I was installing iTunes 9 on this I got this error:
ystem extension cannot be used.

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/cnql1212_ClassicNotSeize.ktext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."

Just running through repairing disk permissions on the MBP and will try installing again.

Hmmmm ... Not so seamless it would seem!

Seems to be working fine for me. I have 3 computers on the network, an iMac and a Macbook both on Snow Leopard and a Sony Viaos on Vista. I've been able to copy between all machines and see each.

Could it be an issue with Leopard?

You do need to re-authorize a machine, it seems even if it were previously authorized.

I need help understanding how to solve an authorize/unauthorize problem. I have four Apple computers--a G4 in a box, a MacBook Pro 13" running Snow Leopard, a MacBook Pro 17" running OS 10.5, a MacPro running OS 10.5. That's a total of four computers. I installed iTunes 9 on the MBPro 13" and the MacPro. I activated Home Sharing on the MacPro and tried to activate Home Sharing on the MBPro 13" but was denied because error message said I had the max number of computers (5) authorized on this account. Questions: Do I unbox the G4 and try to unauthorize it? How can I get a list of everything authorized? Finally, how do I fix this problem?

If you have a total of 5 authorized computers, you can log into your iTunes Store account (click on your iTunes email address at the top right of the screen) and de-authorize all machines, and then reauthorize the proper ones, one at a time. The option only appears if there are 5 authorized machines. That's what I did. Otherwise you'll have to turn on the one machine that needs to be de-authorized and do it from iTunes.

One thing - you can only de-authorize all machines once a year I believe.

OK

I have a MacBookPro running 10.6 and iTunes9 that IS authorized. When I click in iTunes Store all of my information is there and I can play music that I have purchased. This is my MAIN Library.

My second machine - MacBook running 10.6 and iTunes9 that IS authorized as well. I see my account in the iTunes Store and I can play music that has been purchased. This is a secondary Library.

I set up home sharing on the MBPro (Main Library) and it set up with no problem.

I went to set up home sharing on the MB (Secondary Library) and I get the following error: "Home Sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the account " ******". Please authorize this computer and try again."

I double checked in my iTunes account within the iTunes Store and indeed it states that "One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account." There is also no icon to click next to Computer Authorizations to de-authorize all machines.

I have restarted both machines completely with no luck.

Any thoughts???

I am wondering the same thing, I did as the "Help" says and as one of the people in the forum, but to no luck so far. I am kind of disappointed, I have more music on my PC and I wanted to share them, it does say I have 2 of the 5 computers sharing BUT the area in iTunes where sharing should be is no where to be found other then the first time I opened iTunes 9.0 and even under preferences it cannot find them. Oh well it will get fixed.

I can't get it too work either.

I have an iMac and MacBook, both on the same network. I de-authorized both Macs, then re-authorized. I signed out & into both Macs iTunes accounts. Nothing is working. I'm totally stumped.

I can access one Mac's drive from another, and vice versa via WiFi so I know that both Macs are seeing each other, but not in iTunes?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
