Q: iTunes LP download not completing Err= -19

Just installed iTunes 9 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 and downloaded iTunes LP- Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan De Gaulle Remix) Single by Tyrese for $2, just to see what the whole deal was and it reaches the end of the download and iTunes gives an Error -19, stating,

**"There was a problem downloading “iTunes LP - Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan de Gaulle Remix) / Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan de Gaulle Remix) - Single / Tyrese”. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.**
**Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."**

Every other download works fine, just the iTunes LP will not finish completing the download. I even deleted the downloads folder inside the iTunes music folder to start a fresh download of the iTunes LP and I still get the same errror. I also tried downloading it using another iTunes library located on my internal drive inside my music folder and still the same error.

Please help anybody, thanks.

So, I'm adding myself to this list.
Nothing new to tell. The LP content is blocking my downloads completely and Apple support wasn't helpful by now.

I' ve preordered the new Muse album and did not get the LP content at first. After contacting Apple, they told me that it was now available for me and since then, my download queue is blocked with this file, telling me that the store is not available at the moment... But I got no error codes.

I'm using iTunes 9 on at least two computers (Mac and PC) and installed a fresh version on VMWare Window7 Beta. On all installations the same issue.

One thing to mention: I was able to empty my download queue by using an old iTunes 8 installation except for the LP content.

Hope, this will be fixed soon.

Hey y'all I think I found a TEMPORARY FIX for this problem. I was having the same errors (-5000 & -19) when I tried to download Pearl Jam's Backspacer iTunes LP. I currently had my iTunes folder set to my external HD. I reset the folder back to the default (/Users/xxxxx/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music), then I re-tried the download and (finally) it completed! I then copied the LP file to my external HD, then deleted the old file and re-opened the new file and it iTunes still ran the LP just fine.

Apple still needs to get on top of this problem, because once more & more iTunes LPs come out, it's going to be a pain having to go back and forth doing this...

Here's my transcript of the same problem trying to be resolved on Apple Support:
info: Hi, my name is Scott. It'll be just a moment while I review the comments you provided.
    Scott: Good afternoon Middlemiss.
    Middlemiss: hello
Scott: I understand that your downloads of the new iTunes LP didn't download the digital booklets?
Middlemiss: There's some sort of errors coming up......the songs download but the reason I purchased these items is for the "iTunes LP" format.....they're not working...
Scott: Let me take a look at your account.
Scott: It appears that the digital booklets are still in your download queue.
Scott: Do you now how to check for available downloads?
    Middlemiss: ok.....how
Scott: Click on the "Store" menu, and then click on "check for available downloads".
Middlemiss: ok.....did that under "Satus" it say stopped (err = -19)
    Middlemiss: "Status"
Scott: Okay, let me try something.
Scott: I have deleted the files for those two digital booklets and then put new copies in your download queue. Lets see if they will download now.
Middlemiss: Theres just ONE new One in the download Que......The Blueprint 3/Jay-Z
Middlemiss: its halfway downloaded 235/513.....let's see if it works...
    Scott: Okay.
Middlemiss: Same thing........"There were problems downloading"
Middlemiss: There's a software issue here.....new format having issues
Scott: So it didn't complete the download?
Middlemiss: TWO seperate albums not downloading....
    Middlemiss: no
Scott: Okay, hold on a moment.
Middlemiss: How long has "iTunes LP" been available , there has to have been similar issues.....no?
Scott: iTunes LP has only been available since iTunes 9.0 was released, so only a few days. I am checking to see if there are other reports of this issue.
Scott: Okay, it appears that other customers have reported this same issue, not being able to download the digital booklets; error 19.
Middlemiss: I'm currently downloading, Again, the other one "Come Away With Me - Norah Jones".......I'm betting it won't work either......
Scott: This issue is currently being investigated by our technical staff and they are working on a resolution.
Middlemiss: Same thing......so I'm paying to be a Beta Tester.......?
Scott: I'm afraid that there a always issues when a new version of software is released. I'm sure that we will have this issue fixed as soon as possible.
Middlemiss: ummm......can you Refund My money and keep me informed of remedies?
Middlemiss: Before I publish anything.......I do usability testing......I'm just a peon.......I figure apple would actually check if their software worked before releasing???
Scott: I'm sure they tested the software before releasing it, but it appears this issue didn't come up in the testing phase. I can issue a refund for the two playlists, but I don't have anyway to keep you updated on the status of this issue. You might try to purchase these playlists again in a couple weeks.
Middlemiss: Is it going to be fixed in an iTunes 9.0.1 release?
Middlemiss: is it iTunes 9 or is it the actual download?
Scott: I don't know it just says the issue is being investigated.
Scott: The order for these two playlists hasn't invoiced yet, but once it invoices I will issue the refund.
Middlemiss: OK so......that's as much as we can do now......just wait?
Middlemiss: so will I have a credit in iTunes store or will it go back into my bank account?
Scott: The refund will go back to your Visa card.
Middlemiss: ok.......can you ALSO give me free download of these "iTunes LP' files for being e free test subject.........or was this just a waste of my time.........my loss Apple's gain
Scott: You just got the songs from both of these playlists free the only thing missing is the digital booklets. And you want more free stuff?
Middlemiss: Trust me , the only reason I tried to diownload these was for the Interactive booklet........I already had both these albums.........More Free stuff, ummm you've got to be kidding me.......
Scott: Is there anything else I can do for you concerning this issue?
Middlemiss: Yes.........Credit me free downloads........for being a free test subject
Scott: Sorry, I am already refunding your purchase.
Middlemiss: ****......why I walk through life plugging apple products, while being treated like an idiot by same company.........
Middlemiss: Its a cheap way to release software.........Beta-Test with your own customers.....Steve Jobs is a genius
Scott: I'm sure that was not the intention when iTunes released the latest version. Okay I will give you five free song credits.
Scott: You may need to sign out and then back into your iTunes account to see the song credits.

hello everyone, I think I found the problem, and in my case, I fixed it.

I'm using win 7 and set the SATA hard disk as AHCI mode, so the system recognized my hard disk as portable disk, can be hot plug in or out. I found out many people use external storage get this err=-19, so I think maybe it's the problem, so I change my SATA hard disk mode back to native IDE and delete the LP content that cannot be completed then recheck and download it again, it runs smoothly and no error ever comes up.

hope my solution can help someone.

Not sure that's going to work for many folks. Other people have already posted here that the external hard drive is NOT the problem for them, myself included. Having a fresh library on the local disk also results in the same error. There are a couple people who have posted that your remedy works for them, so it's a curious error to be sure.

I'm not at home right now, but I see on macrumors that iTunes 9.0.1 is out. I'll download it when I get home to see if the problem has been addressed. Here's to hoping. Cheers.

I was able to get this to work after many -19 messages. First I deleted the LP download in the downloads folder, then I downloaded again and started getting -5000 messages. I noticed that the temp directory created in the download folder was marked read only. After making this directory writable the download completed!

My problem was resolved for no reason. One day it simply downloaded! I guess the random number generators Apple uses to verify the download were in a good mood. Anyway, Apple has now released iTunes 9.0.1. Has this solved the problem for anyone???

I just downloaded itunes 9.0.1, then deleted the (-19) errored content (an iTunes extras movie and an iTunes LP). Then, I deleted the Downloads folder, then redownloaded all content. Success! Everything went through fine.

Finally I got my download queue free again. After writing serveral mails to Apple support and the plea to empty and refill my download queue, I was able to download at last!

One interesting thing about this was that they did not just put in a new copy of the LP content but the whole Muse - The Resistance album plus some application updates for my iPod touch. So I think they just restored my queue from a history backup (just guessing).

Just to clearify: I've never got any error codes, I just couldn't get the content from the server.

Sandra: I understand that you have been unable to download your purchased item due to the error code -5000?
    nathan hackworth: correct
nathan hackworth: Ive already tried to reinstall itunes and the code still appears
Sandra: I can definitely understand how frustrating that would be for you. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you and I will be more than happy to assist you with this issue today.
Sandra: Please allow me 2-3 minutes while I access your account information.
    nathan hackworth: kk
Sandra: I will be right with you.
    nathan hackworth: okay
Sandra: I am still researching on the issue that you reported. Please bear with me.
    nathan hackworth: no problem
Sandra: I appreciate your patience with me Nathan.
Sandra: I noticed that the item "Backspacer" was on your download queue awaiting download.
    nathan hackworth: yes
Sandra: I have added a new download to your download queue. Please try these steps to download the item and let me know if the problem still persist.
Sandra: 1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple website:
    Sandra: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
    nathan hackworth: done
Sandra: Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.
Sandra: 2) Open iTunes. From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads. If you're unable to upgrade and are using iTunes 7, the option will say Check for Purchases.
Sandra: You can also click this link to do the same thing:
    Sandra: https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/checkForPurchases
Sandra: 3) Enter your account name and password, then click the Check button.
    nathan hackworth: good
Sandra: The missing item should begin downloading and appear in your Purchased playlist. If you receive an error message while downloading, try again after turning off any firewall or web-accelerator software that you may have installed. If the download process is interrupted for any reason, it should resume once you reopen iTunes.
nathan hackworth: I'm downloading the file
    Sandra: Great.
    nathan hackworth: error
    nathan hackworth: I don't have a firewall
    Sandra: O.k. One moment please.
    nathan hackworth: ok
nathan hackworth: oh I got it!!!!
    nathan hackworth: !!!
nathan hackworth: I don't know what happend tho
    Sandra: Really?
    Sandra: The missing item downloaded?
    nathan hackworth: yes
nathan hackworth: I have it downloaded for some reason or another!
    Sandra: Great.
Sandra: Is there anything else that I can assist you with today to make you a very satisfied customer?
nathan hackworth: I wish I could tell you what happened tho
    nathan hackworth: no
nathan hackworth: Im already very satisfied
    nathan hackworth: thank you
Sandra: I actually added a fresh download to your account.
    Sandra: You welcome.

She gave me a newer version of the Pearl Jam iTunes LP 'Backspacer'. So it started off fresh.
Remove any firewalls when downloading any LP off of iTunes. It helps the process run smoother.

*Sucess for me.* After a chat this morning. customer service turned me over to tier 2 support. I understand that you have had trouble downloading the bonus content from "American Beauty". My name is Kris and I will be further assisting you with this request.

I have tested the download for this album and was not able to replicate the error you have received. I have posted this album back to your account to see if you are now able to download it without error.

If you continue to have problems with this download, please reply to this email with an update. I can then remove the album from your download queue and refund your purchase.

I got the same -19 error but then saw the download directory. +_*I gave the WMP network service full control rights to the downloads directory and it worked._*+
The LP is really pretty cool.

I'm still with you. I've been back and forth with Apple support folks, and I was really uplifted yesterday when I got another reply that said "Our engineers have solved the problem. I removed the LP file and added it again. Use iTunes 9.0.1 to download it." I got pretty excited, only to find the same friggin' error. "Unable to connect to the iTunes Store."

    Meh.

I found out that the LP downloads into 4 files. Getting error -19, I deleted 3 of those and the download went to about 40%. It then re-downloaded the 3 deleted files and the LP worked fine.
