Q: iTunes LP download not completing Err= -19

Just installed iTunes 9 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 and downloaded iTunes LP- Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan De Gaulle Remix) Single by Tyrese for $2, just to see what the whole deal was and it reaches the end of the download and iTunes gives an Error -19, stating,

**"There was a problem downloading “iTunes LP - Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan de Gaulle Remix) / Mayhem Take Me Away (Logan de Gaulle Remix) - Single / Tyrese”. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.**
**Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."**

Every other download works fine, just the iTunes LP will not finish completing the download. I even deleted the downloads folder inside the iTunes music folder to start a fresh download of the iTunes LP and I still get the same errror. I also tried downloading it using another iTunes library located on my internal drive inside my music folder and still the same error.

Please help anybody, thanks.

    Hello all,

If you are seeing this -19 issue when you download an iTunes LP, please send me <royb@apple.com> an email with this information:

    1. Where is your iTunes Music folder stored (default location, network share, external drive, etc)?
    2. If it is on a network share, what protocol is being used to connect to the share (SMB, NFS, etc)?
    3. How much disk space is available on the disk where the iTunes Music folder is stored?
    4. What files do you currently have in the Downloads folder that is inside the iTunes Music folder?

    Thanks,
    Roy

What if you didn't get the error, but just didn't get the LP stuff?
Mine only downloaded the songs, although my account shows I should have got the 'booklet'.

Same problem here. Pre-ordered the Muse album and this morning only the songs were downloaded. The LP content appears in my purchase history but it's just not on my computer. Have tried re-purchasing the album again to see if that will re-jig the database to see that I do not have the LP content but this does not work either, it just offers to complete my album and then goes back to the Resistance album page

    Hi Lucas,

From your email I see that you're receiving error -19 when attempting to download your latest purchase. I can certainly appreciate your eagerness to have this issue resolved. My name is Joey and I'll be happy to address your concerns today.

The error you describe may be caused by the presence of web acceleration or firewall software. While the iTunes Store is unable to provide technical support, I can recommend that you either test your connection to the iTunes Store without the presence of this software or configure your system to allow access to the iTunes Store's address.

For assistance in configuring your firewall or accelerator software, you may need to contact its manufacturer or your Internet Service Provider. When contacting support representatives, it may be useful to have the following information:

Apple Discussions are another source of information about iTunes, where everyone from new users to professionals can interact and share their knowledge and experiences. You may find another user with the same operating system or ISP that may be able to help resolve this issue. You can find the iTunes discussions group at:

If you're having any further issues with this, please feel free to reply back to this email and I'll do my best to help you out. Thank you for contacting iTunes Support.

I have all of my router's firewall settings off. I have the firewall settings on my security pane turned off. I am running no firewall software. I don't even know what web acceleration software is. I have no problem whatsoever with the other iTunes content. Yet, somehow, apple has made the argument that this is all my fault. I've done something wrong and I'm too stupid to use a computer. Why do they hate me?

I get the same errors when I attempt to download the iTunes LP content for Dave Matthews Band - Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King; as well as Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3.

iTunes support is helpless and I got the same boilerplate blame the ISP or a firewall answer as others have received. And they also pointed me here to the discussion boards, which apparently haven't found any magical solution. Really Apple? You've stooped down to passing the buck now? After barely announcing anything really innovative at your "Rock and Roll" event, and killing the artwork resize slider and dark background for iTunes, you couldn't even properly test the "device" that is supposed to deliver this amazing new LP content? What has the iTunes team at Apple been doing all year while Steve was away? I'm running a fully updated Apple-only system here (MacBook, AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule), so this should "just work" (to quote the I'm A Mac tv ads).

Hey! I just got it to work! I used my wife's macbook to download one of my LP's. and success. OK, we are on the same network (so I'm skeptical about a network issue) However, I do know that my iMac is connected to an external drive (a 4TB drobo, in fact). I'm wondering if any of you are experiencing the same problems, and is it maybe due to an external drive or an iTunes folder not explicitly in the absolute path: /Users/<yourname>/Music/iTunes

I keep my Library on an external hd, so I was going to test your theory and change my Library default location to the standard ~/Music/iTunes but it doesn't matter because since I emailed the support group, I am now unable to connect to the iTunes Music Store.

i pre-ordered jay-z blueprint 3 deluxe edition (bonus track before update) before having itunes 9, after updating to 9... i got the download, but didn't get the LP digital booklet, i keep getting the itunes unavailable message. i e-mailed customer support and this is the response i got....

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your "The Blueprint 3 deluxe edition". It is a digital booklet which requires you to have the newest iTunes version - iTunes 9. I have added this iTunes LP back to your account so you can download it again. I would request you upgrade to iTunes 9 before you login to iTunes store. If you are already logged in make sure to log out before updating to iTunes 9.

Please follow these steps to download the item:

    1) Make sure you upgrade to the latest version of iTunes. You can upgrade to iTunes 9
    by following this
On top of the iTunes window click on the option iTunes, go to check for updates, you will get
pop-up asking you whether you wish to download newer version of iTunes, click on
    download, Install the iTunes.

Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.

    2) Open iTunes. From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads.

    3) Enter your account name and password, then click the Check button.

The missing item should begin downloading and appear in your Purchased playlist. If you receive an error message while downloading, try again after turning off any firewall or web-accelerator software that you may have installed. If the download process is interrupted for any reason, it should resume once you reopen iTunes.

This article provides information about resuming interrupted downloads:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725

If you don't see the item in your iTunes Library, please include this information in your response to this email:

    - The name of your Internet service provider (ISP)
    - The type of Internet connection (such as dial-up, cable modem, or DSL)
    - Any troubleshooting steps you may have taken
    - Any error messages you may have received

Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible. Thank you for being an iTunes store customer.

    Sincerely,

    Binu

I had the same problem, ever since yesterday with the Muse LP for Resistance. Jerkbone's idea worked for me.
My iTunes library is on an external iomega drive. Once I had this one disconnected and restarted iTunes, the download for the LP content would start again completely (before it merely tried to decompress it and fail). Obviously it would download to the Music Folder on the MBP. Download finished and everything works now.

So if you have your music on an external disk, disconnect it and try again. It might just be that simple.

I have the same problem, but my library is located in the default folder (windows)
So I don´t think this has anything to do with an external hard drive problem.
My guess is, that there is still a bug in the LP function....I hope Apple will fix it ASAP!!
