Q: I can't update Genius - Error (4002)

Every time I try to update the Genius feature, I get an error

"You could not complete your iTunes Store request. An Unknown error occurred (4002)"

Other computers in the same network updated successfully.

Any suggestions about how to fix this?

Thanks

I've tried everything previously on this post and nothing worked, this is what worked for me.
I just got off the phone from apple care and this is what i tried
Firstly delete iTunes but go here first
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224
only follow from point 1 to 20 don't go past point 20 if you want to keep all previous settings intact.
    install latest iTunes
update genius - this didn't work for me.
I turned genius off and on - hooray, genius updated and i have all my genius mixes

    1) Turn off Genius via the Store menubar item in iTunes
    2) Quit iTunes
    3) Delete the cookies via Safari as described above using "apple" as the search term -- using "apple.com" did not work for me
    4) Start iTunes and turn on Genius via the Store menubar item
    5) Genius should start from scratch

This just started for me yesterday. Says our network connection timed out. Does it on two different computers/iTunes. Updated to 10.2 and it does the same thing. If my network connection is timing out how was I able to download the latest version???

Just as well, seems like Genius is turning into another step-child that Apple will kill off queitly. How come Misery Indexs' previous albums were recognized by Genius but there latest and most popluar is "unavailable"? For over a year now??? Did somebody not realize that they might be biting off more thatn they could chew by offering such software? Get with the times and keep it current....and working.

I had this problem for weeks. I fixed it my turning Genius off and then turning it back on. The downside is that I lost any Genius playlists that I had. The upside is that I did not have to manually delete ant cookies.

I too have this error message. What is this business with cookies and where do I find it. This is only the fourth or fifth error message I have had including library cannot be saved, loosing artwork, not transferring artwork, etc. I only use Windows 7 on a personal computer. I am not computer literate  - lead me though it,  please?

I've just resolved this on Windows 7.

    1. In iTunes, click Store, then Turn Off Genius
    2. In Windows Control Panel, open Internet Options
    3. Under Browsing History, click Delete. Only leave the Cookies check box ticked
    4. Click Delete
    5. Open iTunes
    6. Turn on Genius
