Itunes won't open after Installing 9 update

I installed the Itunes 9 upgrade. It downloaded fine. Then when it was done, I clicked on Itunes on my dock to open it but it just bounced like it was going to open but then stops and nothing opens. Is this happening for anyone else? Any suggestions on what to do...

I can't get iTunes to open after installing the 9 update, either. I do get the error message "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version." Not sure why I would have gotten a non-English version from my software update, or how to "run the English version" when iTunes won't open at all.

I had a similar problem. I don't know the exact root cause of it, but I had a 3rd gen iPod attached to my Mac with a FireWire doc. Initially, after installing iTunes 9, it would simply not start. The dock would show the faint blue LED under the icon and clicking on iTunes would indicate "Application not responding".

I restarted the system but it did not help. Then I disconnected the iPod from the dock, restarted the system. Without the iPod in the dock, iTunes 9 started OK. When I put the iPod back in the dock, it was recognized.

The same thing happened to me where the icon "bounces," but iTunes won't open.

So apparently I don't have the right version of OSX for the program. OK. So what to do I to get back my old iTunes?

I'm a little ****** about this because I feel like a warning should have popped up somewhere during the installation process telling me my system wouldn't accommodate the new iTunes.

Secondly, I'm ****** off at myself because all of this trouble was caused by trying to download an episode of freakin' "Top Chef." Why on earth would the show require the newest version of iTunes?

I feel like there should have been something that warned you too. I don't see why the upgrade would fully download if my software isn't up to date. It seems like I need to upgrade my Quicktime to Quicktime 7 in order to run this, but in order to download Quicktime I need Leopard pretty much. I think it's a little ridiculous.

I live on my music, so I literally had a panic attack now that Itunes doesn't work, I don't know what to do.

I don't know if this is the correct forum section but I have to start somewhere. I have Vista 64, and in common with a _very large number_ of other Vista 64 bit users, the latest iTunes version 9 will not install correctly. Meanwhile, my iTunes library is not useable.
This is s TOP PRIORITY FAILURE that Apple should address immediately.
If the problem has been solved, and someone can direct me to that solution I will be most grateful.

My OS is also Windows Vista 64-bit, and I'm holding off on any installation of the new iTunes until the bugs are worked out. In my view, we shouldn't have to spend several hours installing/uninstalling/working out bugs, just to get the new, improved software installed. That should all be done in test phases, before release... I want a quick, seamless, one-step install, Apple.

This should not be necessary for any iTunes customer. Apple should have a proven version, but as they didn't, via their Update system, here is a solution.
1)Uninstall previous iT v 8. This will NOT affect libraries etc.
2)Go to Apple.com, Downloads, and select the iT9 for 64 bit.
3)Download.
4) Reboot.
5)Run.
6) In ALL FUTURE iT Updates suggested by Apple, IGNORE them, and instead, repeat steps above.
