I've found that when updating iTunes, it resets the permissions. Haven't tried iTunes 9 yet, I'm trying to decide whether it's worth keeping the 'shared' library file, or using the Home Sharing (so we don't need to keep logging out).MacBook Pro 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB DDR3, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Still waiting for LX3 RAW support (.rw2)

I'll double-check the permissions piece. Thought I did that already, but I'll double check.
Doesn't the home sharing copy of the files? I don't want to duplicate the same iTunes folder on one iMac. Maybe I'm misunderstanding home share, though.
edit -- just tried adjusting permisssions from my wife's account. still doesn't work

Well, Windows has it's reboot, Mac OSX has it's "fix permissions"
Thanks for pointing me in the right directiom.iMac 20" 2.16, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

If you have the media in a shared location, the media file will duplicate in the same folder.
I haven't tested yet, but this is what I've understood from other posters.MacBook Pro 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB DDR3, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Still waiting for LX3 RAW support (.rw2)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 17, 2009 6:11 PM (in response to GlynC)I have the same problem, I was sharing my iTunes Library with my wife and daughters on the same iMac using an external drive for the content(music, videos, etc.) and the Library File. I updated to iTunes 9, all works fine in my iMac account but not on my wife's and daughter's accounts, they can no longer view/use my library. Any ideas on how to correctly configure this?
I have looked at the new sharing functionality in iTunes 9 but it seems that it physically duplicates the library files on the disk, I just want to keep one version of the library and just use playlists for each one of us.
Thanks!iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
